I have always loved John Deere Tractors...
Not sure if it was the Green and Yellow when I was little but recall always pointing them out as a kid.
Over the years, they were never something that made sense to me. After getting married to my High School sweetheart, we bought a house that was on a small yard (Not tractor friendly).
We then moved to a new house that had a little over an acre. Being a young and starting a family...the Craftsman was all I could imagine to purchase. In 2001, I thought I was ready to buy a JD...but it wasn't in the cards. Prices were still too high for me...so I bought my White GT2150 (The Prodigal Son). It was a great tractor for my needs.
In 2011, I fell into a 1998 JD345 from a friend of mine.
Oct 2015, we moved to the country and have 7.5 acres.
December 2015, a close friend of mine was upgrading his John Deere and knew that I wanted his old one...2000 JD455
February 2016, I took delivery of my new JD2032R w/FEL & BH. This was hard to convince the wife, but now she sees what a labor savings it is, especially after having a heart attack in June 2015.
I have since sold my JD345 to a friend of mine and have the herd comprised of a 2032R, 455 and White GT2150.
Since I was a kid, I loved John Deere Tractors...the older one's really caught my eye. My dream was to get a 112 Round Fender at some point. Well, it's really hard to find them and when you do, they want top dollar for them.
Fast forward to 4 days ago. I was cruising Craigs List and found a 1965 110H for sale for a pretty fair price. It was semi restored.
I decided to go look at it...it wasn't a 112 but it was a round fender...so why not. Before I went, I realized that it was a 1966 being that Hydraulics were not introduced until then.
This morning I went to look at it...and this is where things start to get weird...
I pull up and it is in the garage, deck and hydraulics are sitting next to it and the Original Parts Catalog and Operators Manual are sitting on a table.
I started looking at it and this is when things fell in place...It was a 112H...The guy had someone else list it and got it wrong...so here I am sitting in front of my "dream" tractor...that was born the year that I was born...and come to find out that he works with my Mother-in-laws husband...
Sounds like all the stars were aligned...not to mention we were able to come to a negotiated price...being that the guy before me wanted to use it to cut 8 acres of 2' high grass.
Introducing "Archie" (after Archimedes, Merlin's pet owl).
