I cut up a hoisting rig for pallets that I had from the past and don't use anymore. They are going to be my new lift forks for my tractors. I have been thinking about whether to use hydraulics to rotate (standard quick attach) or use the angling cylinder to tilt the forks. The more I think about it, the more it is tilt time.

Started re-assembly on the mower deck spindles, and wheels. The spindles went together much easier than getting them apart. And they spin nice and smooth after all new bearings and pulleys...

I took a 100 pound chunk of steel that I had laying around, strapped it onto the back of the 455 and went plowing. We got about 4 inches of snow last night and the 455 dealt with it beautifully. There's something about a diesel purring away that kind of feels just right.:thThumbsU I might be hooked.

Plowed about 8 inches of wet stuff. Dropping into the teens tonight. At least the next plowing will be fluffier. Still coming down. School has already been cancelled for tomorrow. Maybe I can get some pics on the next round.
We are right in the middle of the heaviest snow on the map.
I live just around the corner from Larry. My 325 was busy yesterday and today. I did my driveway and two neighbors yesterday the first time starting at about 8:30 AM. I also plowed the edges of the county road in front of my house so people driving down the road know where the edges are. I have had too many cars end up in my yard or in the ditch on the other side of the road because they cannot tell where the edge of the road is.
Spent much of the day playing with the dogs in the snow (two goldens). Tried going to the county fair grounds because they are fenced in, but they were closed. So I took them to a city park instead. The eight year old we recently adopted was tired after about a half hour running in over a foot of new snow so we went home. I put on my snow shoes and went out in the farm fields with the other golden because he still hadn't had enough.
I went back out on the tractor after the dog tired out and plowed my driveway, one of the neighbor's and the edges of the road again. I then drove the tractor to the intersection of the county road I'm on and a state highway and plowed that intersection open. The state highway was clear, but the road I live on was bad from the state highway plows. It's a very dangerous intersection made worse when it is not plowed. A county plow came by as I was doing it. I got in the house just before halftime of the Super Bowl.
Went back out this morning did my drive, two neighbors' drives, the edges of the road and went and helped another neighbor who was using a small 2-cycle Toro snowblower trying to clear the end of his drive from the snow plows. After clearing the end of his drive we were talking and a county plow went by and waved to us. When I went back home I discovered the county plow driver had salted the road in front of my house (the only spot on the road that was salted other than the interesections). I guess the driver must have known I was the one keeping the drifts off the sides of the road and the one that cleared the intersection.
My wife and others tell me I am sick because I love the snow. I may be 50 years old, but I still love playing in the snow. I was disappointed because my cousin's son (he's 11) didn't want to go sledding with me. I still got to have my fun playing in the snow with my dogs and with the tractor. :thThumbsU

Enjoyed plowing all 17.5" in our driveway and at our neighbor's. I chickened out and plowed once when it was about 1/2 over and again when it was finished. Still, that's over 8" each time.

John, I live on a dead end road and sometimes people don't slow down when i'm near the road. You're pretty brave going out on a well traveled county road.

Lorne,

Nice set of forks. It'll be great to have something that can easy pick up a pallet or something.

I am working on getting some better LED lights mounted on the tractor.

I did buy a reflective safety vest that has built in LEDs in the reflective stripes on the vest. My wife doesn't like that I am in the road as much as I am when plowing, but once I put the vest on she said she was amazed at how visible I was (see was looking out a window on the house) even during daylight with the vest on and the LEDs flashing. It makes me feel safer too because I don't always see cars approaching from behind me.

I'm going to try and come up with a way to mount mirrors for next winter. I have them on the 45 loader and on my brush guard for mowing but not plowing yet.
I don't think I've ever seen one of those vests. Be careful, people tend to fixate on something like that and drive right into it.

314 w/54" blade and 317 w/mod 49 sb both got a workout today clearing my and a neighbor's driveways.

The 314 impresses the heck out of me with how much I can push before it starts to spin. Fluid filled bar tires with no chains.

I had to put chains on 26x12-12 turfs on the 317. Has concrete wheel weights. The paddles and freshly painted chute and deflector really improved performance of the snow blower.

Anyone else having problems logging into WFM site?

Just got in from blowing 60 cm's of snow a short while ago. We have lots now. Weather station says we could get 40 more on Thursday. A city about 3 hours from here has received 128 cm's in the last week, city has declared a state of emergency. X530 is doing its job, worth every penny.

Those wheel weights look awesome! Is that a 54 plow with sides? I've never seen that set up before looks like a nice thing for snow.

Yes, they're aftermarket wings that bolt on to the face of the blade. They work great to widen the blade, minimize overspill and gather more snow in front of the blade. They're not too durable if you hook an ice boulder or a fixed object though. Here's a thread with more about them: http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=223804

I bought the weights used from a former Deere dealer. Not quite sure of their origin, but they were the right color!

Here's what the wings look like from the front
