Re: eBay/Craigslist Postings

Yes, optical sensor. I have one of these and it is indeed a cool piece of Lawnboy history. The optical sensor sits in the heavy metal base which has a reflective bottom plate. The photo eye shoots a beam down to the reflective plate and back up under the mower where it reads the blade tip speed via a piece of retro reflective tape installed on the blade. The sensor can also be used out of the base and hand held as long as you can install a piece of the tape on a rotating surface. I first tested mine on and old metal 3 speed fan. It also has a switch which mounts to the handle and when you release the bail on a compliant mower it reads the stopping time to make sure the braking components are functioning properly. I am going to contact the seller to see if they are able to test it. Bill

Here is a picture of mine.

This was my old thread about a Lawnboy mower monitor that I had purchased and I just thought it easier to tag on to it. There is one of these up on eBay right now and no one bought it the first time around so it has been re listed. Here is the link.

Lawn Boy Mower Monitor OTC Owatonna Tool and Instructions | eBay

Hopefully one of our Lawnboy guys will be interested in adding this to their Lawnboy stuff. Pretty decent price considering it is complete. Bill

Also have a link to this in the eBay section.

Thanks Bill, I may put a bid in on it, since my current tach leads keep getting shorter and shorter...yeah these lawnboys have pretty good vacuum and if you aren't careful the slack in the leads ends up getting sucked up in the deck. At least with the blades razor sharp it doesn't bother anything else, just makes a nice clean slice. LOL

Re: Walkbehind For Sale & Wanted

That is the right deck, Dayton, but I am looking for the orange Wisconsin Robin engine. That looks like a replacement engine - Briggs?
Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Walkbehind For Sale & Wanted

I'm looks for John Deere 14SE green deck parts. Mainly the rear height adjusters which are JD part # PT12458 and PT12457. I'd be interested in other parts as well but mostly need those at the moment.

Re: Walkbehind For Sale & Wanted

Hi folks. Looking for a replacement shroud for a 1970 lawnboy 5239. Part# on it is 679300 and it looks like the one I the attached picture. I just need one that isn't cracked or the holes worn out for the screws and primer assembly
Let me know if you have one you'd be willing to part with

Worth that easily in parts. Personally not a fan of the steel decked Lawnboys. Bill

Re: eBay/Craigslist Postings

Okay, what's wrong with these Lawn Boys?

I figured somebody here would have swooped them up immediately.
I seen those....really don't want a V series, and I have a duraforce.
Depending on what is wrong with them...you may fix the V for resale and get a free Duraforce for yourself.

Re: eBay/Craigslist Postings

That's outside of my usual range. What is a good price on these, in working condition?
For a NICE good running Duraforce you may get around $200...but keep in mind the economy here has slowed since gas prices have fallen and a lot of oil related jobs have been lost.
For the V series in good running condition maybe $100.
If they both have spark and compression I would try to pick them up for $40 and see what they say.
