We're expecting nothing but rain at home.

However, we're driving into the belly of the beast (jackpot 12-18 inch area per Don's map) for the weekend.

Due to the forecast, I begged my wife to let us leave early, so after some juggling (extra night for the dog in the kennel, extra night at the hotel, kids out of school Friday), we'll be driving up there after work tomorrow, before the madness starts.

This is a family tradition for the four of us (neither my parents nor my sister's family would tolerate the cold), and after two years of not being open due to covid, the boys found out that Santa's Village is open for the season this year, and asked to go. Seeing as they're 12 and 16 and still believe in Santa (or at least pretend to), and we all love the place, we booked the trip a week or two ago.

Normally, we only go for two nights (due to school schedules), but after missing Columbus Day weekend and most of October due to 3/4 of us being sick with covid ourselves, I'm happy to have an extra day to relax, even if it's just at the hotel swimming and playing board games (and not driving through the mountains of NH during a massive snowstorm) on Friday!

Road trip to New England for some serious seat time!!!!!!!!!!!! 😁
I was just joking!
Have to admit, while I figured it out after a minute, I initially thought you were heading up here for a new acquisition, now that you're opening gaping holes in your storage area!!!

It's a week away, but TWC app is saying we're likely to get snow instead of rain for that one, on the order of 8-13 inches.

The local (TV) guys aren't talking about anything beyond this storm. And, WOW, are they talking it up...

This storm is nuts, blizzards in the west, tornadoes in the south. Everyone, stay safe!

Our plan worked! Left later than we'd hoped, but arrived in North Conway, NH right around 11 pm. Drove through a lot of mist and light rain, and didn't see snow until the last 15 miles (of the nearly 200-mile trip).

Temps were 40 °F when we left, 34 when we got here, so those flurries didn't even stick up here (YET)...

Here's the latest severe warning for up here...

Ha! "Impact" is someone else's trigger word (Randy or Don, I think).

Mine is "Bombogenesis." Pretty sure it's Jeremy Reiner's favorite word (Boston Channel 7 guy), he uses it just to point out when a storm is NOT caused by it...

...and, cue the mandatory Ben Stiller clip!

Sadly, I can feel my heart rate rising just thinking about that!

Maybe this will help...

We got nothing last night, despite predictions. It started snowing here a half hour ago. 36 ° now. It's very wet and slushy but if the temperature drops it will be all snow. They are predicting 6-10" by tomorrow. 🙄
