what was your first lawn/garden tractor, that you bought with your own money.

mine is a 1988 Roper yt16, caused me neumerous problems and sucked 400$ out of me but i just cant get myself to get rid of it, i love it like a child

1992 Craftsman 12 hp 40" cut lt built by Murray [bought new].

Mine was a sears ss16 for 145 with three point hitch, moldboard plow, deck, wheel weights, and snowplow. Next was a sears ss15 with deck for $125

Mine was a JD 1965 round fender that I bought with the house from the previous owner. It was a tired old tractor but had tiller and snowblower with it and served my needs until I stepped up. Wish I hadn't sold it as now I'm starting to learn to restore equipment and would've enjoyed doing the ole 110!

The first one that i bought with my own money is a 2135 cub cadet that is shaft driven. But the first tractor that i ever had was givin to me and it is a murray. I still own and use both these tractors today.:fing32:

Mine was a Bolens 850.

That old tube frame was tough. I did a lot of work with it, pulling a stone rake and my Dad used it with the rear tiller.

I didn't cut much grasr with it.

One of the old Swisher "Big Mows", 6 HP Tecumseh, 30" cut, 110 volt electric start! Gave $100 for it, not a bad mower on a fairly smooth, flat yard. ~~ grnspot110

Noticed your Honda ATC. Looks Good

I just had one out yesterday, pulling a small trailer and spraying weeds. Mine is a 1983, 200ES

Old MTD 12.5 HP-38' cut, must say it was a cheap machine, but it cut the grass really nice.

mine was an old 12hp murry i bought it for 50 it needed a carb. i used that and ran it into the ground then i got rid of it bought another one then a new one and nw i have a collection. or restored and soon to be touched

I don't know who made it for Sears but my 1st couple were Sears with that funky "loop" handle, 5HP/24" Tecumseh, windup starter, 1st one was red (My Dad had one when I was about 3 that I used to sit on his lap while he mowed) I got my 1st at 12, for $5 and the guy wanted a note from my parents, saying it was OK for me to have; Dad wound up going over with me in one of ol' Fury wagons he had, to go pick it up. I rode that thing all over mowing everyone else's yard with it. I took that engine apart (not my 1st) as my "guineaq pig" in Freshman small engine class and sandblasted/painted the rest of the mower in anticipation of putting that fresh rebuilt engine on there; it never ran again. I went back to that engine off and on for all my HS days and had it apart probably 50X and never did get that one to run again.
Yet I had others in betweenm that I'd also done full rebuilds on, that turned out great.
Shortly later I was given a gray version of the same mower with an off white fiberglass cover over the engine. (still a 24" cut but this was a "6 HP"; I still have the engine off that one up at Mom's, I saved it, since it still ran well once the magnesium deck was long ago too busted up for its own good. I still have a couple of those dual feed Tecumseh gas tank/shrouds; probably left over from my later Swishers.

My first was a 1965 JD 110, bought in 1993 for $350. Mowed with it for two years, the deck was a POS and had been welded to the point it was nothing but patches. 2nd tractor was a 1970 JD110 I saw down the street from the house I had just moved to in 1995. I bought it because the deck was in better shape. Gave $250 for it. Kept them both for another 4 years. Wish I still had them both.

Um, that would have to be my 3 Masseys from New Hampshire. Second was the 2 in pennsylvania. Everything else was paid for at least in part by my dad, and repaid by me, or was FREE!

I think the first tractors I bought myself were the 6 Sears ones I bought last yesr!..all the others were rescued from landfills, given to me by neigbors or friends who told me their neighbors were about to junk one,etc..my first one to drive was one like described above,a Craftsman "mid engine" rider with the funky looped handlebars!..
