Monday the sheet metal got cut and reinstalled around the new door opening. The guys finished up leveling inside the garage the gravel, They had to get more gravel about 5 years but ordered in a full truck load.

Tuesday the concrete crew showed up and the guys that are doing the roof. The concrete pour was more interesting and so I only took pictures of the pour. So more pictures are in order.

After work tonight I did go into the garage and walked around. The floor is hard but not hard enough to put anything on the floor. It looks like the weekend I will be able to drive on the floor. I lay plywood on the new floor until it really hardens up.

Here's some more of the pour. What is really nice is the fact that with the floor in this is going to be a really useful shop and I can now have this building for my stuff and the other new building for the wife's stuff. Just watch as my wife will try and take over this.

There is a final pour on the front for a 4 foot wide apron in front of the garage. The wife wanted at least 10 foot but I wanted the shorter apron as if it was longer they would have to angle it in the center for rain runoff.

Looking good! :thThumbsU

I can see a nice big work bench, wood working tools, metal working tools, a welder and tractors setting in there now with a wood stove to keep it warm. Oops, started day dreaming about if I had a building like that for a minute there. :biglaugh:

Well the wife has already decided to take a quarter of the garage for her stuff (I knew that would happen:Disgus:). I going to build a wall with a door in the back quarter so she can use it for her stuff. The instant it is left out and it will make a trip (straight to the dump:hide:) I still have it set up for me as I will be able to have my tractors in it and still have room to work even if it is 28 X 36 when the building is 28 X 48. Oh by the way Mark both of my tractors are already parked in the building as I type this.

I built a 24x36 garage and it's MINE. She gets the house and I get the garage. Although last summer when the 4 bedrooms and the bathroom needed redoing guess who did that? ME. Home ownership and a wife, who loves ya baby.:woohoo1:

This project has been completed by the contractor. The new roof is installed and the garage is finished and the contractor even repaired the sidewalk to garage with a little extra cement (I had a 48" part of the sidewalk fail) I am really happy with the results and have been busy as a bee in the garage today, I hung cabinets in the garage (gotta love free Craigslist cabinets) and am framing in a storage area for the wife. Well here are some of the pictures from Thursday. I have not yet got any pictures of the new garage door but I will soon.

By the time that roof needs any attention you'll be old enough not to care. :D
That is the idea I was running with. I wanted something that was permanent and I did not have to pay much attention to.

I have some more pictures and this time it is inside the pole building. I have done some work myself and of course it is on without a ladder...

The new garage door is in front of the Dodge Ram. This job came out far better then I imagine as now I have a useful building and NOT a dirt floor.

Very nice, Michael! Making some good progress on your project list. By the time summer gets here you'll have to start in on 2011's projects to keep busy. All is looking good there!

Michael, I was truly impressed at how quick you got the building empty for cement and at how quick the whole project got done from beginning to end. Sounds like you have a great contractor that gets work done quickly and hopefully on budget.

Emptying the garage actually took me a month, the contractor is the same one I used to build my other garage and I knew that he would do what he promised plus I really like the guy.

He stayed within the budget and the estimate he agreed to and got the work done. We got his bill yesterday and the wife went to the credit union Wednesday and got a bank check cut and I will ring him up in the morning and have him come out to get the check in when he is free to come out (He'll be here quick as I always pay quickly so he can cover his overhead).

This was of the best projects after the new garage and I finally have a really usable garage now. I just wish I had more time to spend in it as I got a huge wish list of things I want to do inside. I have all the material I need to finish the inside but I am now going to work a bunch of overtime to replenish my project savings account to get more work done in the fall around here. I want to get new windows and doors done before next winter.
