hi a friend of mine has a sears custom 6 with a 4 speed transmission for sale. im just wondering what the value is and if anyone can tell me anything about it. it currently doesnt run but he claims that the engine is not locked up or anything. He also says its all original and from the looks if it everything is there. it also looks to be in really good condition for its age. looks like its just dirty. i attatched some pics of it. hes wanting 150 for it. just wanting to know what its worth the way it is and if its running. as well as if you have any info on it or what year it is i would appreciate the info. he thinks its from the 60's. thanks in advance

That looks like a '66,having flat fenders, and that type of grille..

I'd say its worth 150 if it'll run and the transaxle has no issues--the 4 speed one is probably not the most common in those, most had the 3 speed or the 6 speed with hi-lo range like the Suburban series had (which is more desireable in my opinion),but the 3 & 4 speeds were cast iron and not "junk" either..

The Custom's had "one off" mower decks that are hard to find in decent shape, made both of aluminum or steel, those decks break easy (aluminum),the steel ones rust away often too,and those right angle gearboxes are getting had to come by (they had a RH and LH rotation too)...so the deck alone could be worth quite a bit to the right person..I see chunks broken out of the top side in the picture though..

it's worth $100-$150 especially with that aluminum deck with no holes in it!
