Installing snowblower on x300 need help

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a home with about an acre of lawn and a long flat driveway in NJ so after doing some searching I found this forum and I’m extremely grateful that I did due to the abundance of helpful information. So I’d like to start off with saying t you.

After doing some reading here and searching CL and FB marketplace I ended up purchasing a used JD x300 (2008 I believe) and a 44” snowblower (M044SBF DOM 2014) separately from different sellers.

Since the temperature started dropping this week I decided to install the snowblower. I attached the blower to the front quick hitch and the hitch to the front of the tractor. But then I couldn’t figure out how to attach everything to the lift lever mechanism.

After watching some YouTube videos and some pictures on the forum, I think I see different ways to hook it up to the lifting lever mechanism depending on the tractor’s manufacturer date. Is this correct?

Here are some picture that might help explain what I mean.

The red circled part is what I’m unsure I’m supposed to connect it to. Am I missing an additional bracket that connects to the lift lever mechanism?
I appreciate any help that can be offered.

My X360 looked like this. Left side, outside, forward from rock shaft.

I don't think that the front rock shaft is even there. If it were installed backwards then that hole near the end of the linkage rod would be blocked by the back side of the rock shaft (the end without the arm). From that first picture that hole is completely clear so the front rock shaft isn't even there. It was a separate kit that had to be purchased and installed in addition to the front mounted snow blower or plow blade. Once he finds a front rock shaft kit and gets that installed he will also need the lift assist spring assembly, as that was not installed at the factory on the X300 with the 42" mower deck, at least on the early ones. Without the lift assist spring it will be quite a workout on the left leg raising and lowering that blower.

Thank you everyone for such quick replies. You’re right Nouveau Redneck, it appears I’m missing the front rock shaft and the lift assist.

I went to my local dealer today and purchased the lift assist. Unfortunately, the rock shaft is a bit too pricey.

As suggested by the dealer and this thread I found today on the same topic, I tried reaching out to the person that sold me the blower. Hopefully the rock shaft assembly is still attached to his tractor and he’s willing to part ways. ::fingerscrossed:: waiting for a reply.

If I’m not able to obtained it from the originally seller, I thought about purchasing the 44” push blade that I believe comes with the same front rock shaft. Am I correct? It would be approximately $200Ish more than just buying the rock shaft from the dealer but at least I would have a snow blade for those snow days where accumulation is only a few inches. Or is the snowblower capable of cleaning even small amounts of accumulation?
