I just bought this compact tractor today. it runs great and seems like it will be a fun machine to use. does anyone have anything they can tell me about them? anyone else own one? what maintenance should I do on it? thanks

Don't own a CC, but I've had MF GTs with loaders since 1978, and a MF GC since 2006. Maintain the oil and filter changes, grease any fittings that are there, and it will serve you well for years. If the rear tires aren't loaded now, get them loaded with RimGuard. A set of wheel weights is also a good idea.

Set the throttle for your comfort zone. Too fast is definitely not comfortable. Start at half throttle for an hour or two while you learn how it functions. Advance the throttle as you get comfortable. Do not expect to operate it at the same speed at the start of the next day.

That looks like a very solid unit. :fing32:

I have a 7284D love it .though I am having a starting issue with it in the cold weather.I tried to locate a block heater through the cub cadet dealers . they don't offer one.. so after lots of research on the net .. long story its got a caterpillar engine.. which really is a perkins engine(cat bought out perkins) .I spoke with a tech at perkins and I got a recomendation for a block heater I plan on installing it tomorrow... I'll post again a give details about how it goes.
other than this it's great tractor. real tough

The 5000 series Sub Compacts were Know for some Issues especially with Back Hoe Use. We Have One Member Here Named Brett That split The transmission Housing On His Cub Cadet 5000 series within the first few Months Of Use with His Cub Cadet 5000 series and If I remember right It Had to do with the Backhoe design and there were also some PTO issues with the 5000 series Sub Compacts as well. Other than those Issues The 5000 series seemed to Perform well for Most owners. The 5000 series was MTD/Cub’s first attempt at Sub Compact tractors:thThumbsU

Nice looking outfit. Is it four wheel drive? I'm not familiar with that model at all. I have a 2345(?) I think. The loader is invaluable around the homestead all year round. On my first Cub and so far I'm really happy with it and the local dealer. Far easier to deal with when I bought than it was the green models or the orange models. Enjoy using yours. Looks good.
