First off please don't get mad if I have posted this in the wrong place. I think I am in the right place and I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a 1976 Allis Chalmers 808 GT garden tractor. The mowing deck works, trans is good, still drives and mows and runs great. It has a 15 HP Briggs OHV in it yes I know thats not the original 8 HP flathead briggs. I gave a 130 for it and gonna pick it up on Friday. I was wondering did they make any kind of attachments for them i.e. plows, tillers for like gardens, etc. If they do is it possible to still buy parts for them. My other question is the deck. I was told it was a 36'' deck but, there is no indication on it. Thanks in advance for the help. I am only 17 fixing to be 18 here in a few days and I don't know a whole lot of tractors especially antiques.

The only thing I may need to do this tractor is buy a battery in the spring if I want to mow with it which I am intending to do. When I get it home I am going to first see if the battery will take a charge and stay charged. When I went and looked at it the tractor hadn't been started since september 2013. I put some gas in it and the guy jumped it with his car and it probably cranked 25 no more than 30 secs and fired up and ran smooth wasn't a bad smoker either.

I see it list the individual parts and components of each attachment. Does anyone know if there is a way to just for example buy like the actual attachment all in one. For example purchase the rear grass catcher with everything together. I know it list the individual parts for the rear grass catcher but, is there a way to actually purchase the rear grass catcher itself and on all the attachments each individual piece isn't available on partstree. Thanks all for the info and bearing with me. Again I am young and don't know a whole lot.

I was going to try that. I understand having an occasional backfire but, when I tried it out this evening after getting the mower home it was backfiring pretty much every time I turned it off. Thanks for the tip will try when I get chance and report back. Question though for you if the carb is gummed up wouldn't the engine want to stall and not really run. I am not an engine tech person. I don't know I am just asking.

Back firing is caused from too much fuel dumping into the engine. That is not completely burned in the cylinder, then Igniting in the exhaust system

If the needle is not sealing properly in the seat from gunk or grit you will have the situation your describing.

Do you know anyone that can help you clean the carb and adjust it?
