Well figured I would start a new thread for this little issue(s) so it will be easily searchable. Got the blower mounted up the other night only to find oil coming from my head on the Kohler K181.....
Pulled it into the garage tonight and started pulling it apart.
Issues on the docket to fix are the following:
1) Head gasket/oil leak
2) Leaky fuel tank/sediment bowl
3) Clean up the engine
4) Investigate the oil leak around the governor arm (minor issue at this point)
Step 1) Remove the fuel tank and top engine tin
Step 2) Take the head off

Step 3) Investigation
The head gasket looks fine

There is oil on the surface of the head??

So that is a little odd.......
But I have a standard piston :fing32: did not expect that. I am wondering if I am the first person to ever open this engine up????

The cylinder wall even looks good... no cross hatching but certainly nothing that warrants removing the engine.

Anyone want to chime in on the oil issue/leak, both head and governor area? I have a whole K181 gasket kit so I think while I am working on it I am going to double check the breather and investigate the governor arm.
