Hi Mike, didn't realize you were online too.

Yeah if you have chipmunks you better get rid of them.
I have noticed that they will actually carry the baits away.
Fine with me I just keep feeding them till they are gone.

And you can put those bait chunks in your RV or where ever needed.
I keep some in my attic just in case.
And in the garage which is detached as well.
Be sure to wash hands afterwards.

Do tell of results if you try this.

Also the container says its not for anything but mice, voles and rats
and use is prohibited for any other such uses. I say BS.

It works and that's whats important!

I've been trying to avoid napalm (overdoing the poison and wiping out unintended animals). Another friend mentioned the big blocks when I told him that the mice I've seen eat D-Con like Chicklets and just keep coming (was actually much worse in the basement at my old house).

I'm also trying not to attract them closer (or worse, into) the RV.

I really can't believe that there isn't an exterminator that will service RVs around here. They'd make a fortune.

Don't know if we hit on this before but the d-con and stuff you buy for house use is weak n barely kill them.
You have to go to big box store or farm store and buy 4lb or larger to get the old ingredients.
2 different main good formulations of that too. The cheapest and most common is the same stuff that was in d-con for decades.

Also put some bait inside a 5 gal bucket with a small hole in the lid and a ramp walkway going up to the top of the bucket,

This will live trap the little critters and no dead stink when they die under something out of site. (which they will do when using poison) Takes a long time for dead mice stink to go away. When dead mouse stink first starts it smells like PROPANE.

To help reduce dead mice stink in a auto use fresh coffee grounds. You can review such on-line. Could not believe how well it works.

I've read people burn coffee to kill the stench of a dead body in a home that wasn't found right away...


I have had mice in many of the vehicles I bought in the past,they all sat for some time un-used,the grossest job in the world or one of the top ten at least,is tearing the vehicle apart to find all the nests,turds,and pee,and any live inhabitants and get rid of it all...
I have yet to find anything that completely eradicates that smell,some things mask it awhile but it usually comes back when the weather turns warmer..

My insulated truck body shed reeks of mice now,went in it a few days ago to get something and OMG...I bet every small engine I have stored in there has a nest in the blower housing now..stinks like death in there...:tango_face_surprise

The aluminum diamond plate floor in it has developed holes around the steel screws holding it down to the steel rails,large enough for mice to crawl up thru,and my feral barn cats cant get in the truck body shed,only the lean to I built off of it next to it..they sleep in there,and I find a mouse corpse minus the brain once in a while in there--so far the tractors and engines in that area are mouse free thanks to the cats..even though the cats are getting quite old and probably cant catch them like they once could..

I am getting over run with chipmunks again this year. I've put out the 5 gal. bucket about 3/4 full of water and cover the surface with sunflower seeds. put a board up to the top and a few seeds on it and when they get to the top they think they've hit the mother load. They jump in and tread water for awhile till they tire out and drown. So far in the past two weeks I've killed 16 chipmunks and 28 mice that way' In the evening I put a little peanut butter on a piece of cardboard and lay it on top of the sunflower seeds and that attracts the mice at night. The most I've caught in one night is 5. At least two every night. In the morning before I empty the bucket I put more sunflower seeds on top and catch a chipmunk or two then that evening I empty the bucket and start all over. I have got a few chipmunks with my pellet gun. So far no mice in the RV but this past winter for the first time I got mice in my attached garage and in the house. I figure I'll keep trapping mice all summer, maybe keep them from reproducing so much. I set traps in my outbuildings and the garage.
I recently built a screech owl house. Still need to get it up in a tree. Hopefully it will attract them. They are very good for rodent control. Had some a few years ago but haven't seen any for awhile.

A friend of mine that lives a few miles from me had a toyota 4x4 pickup that he kept in his pole barn. He didn't drive it alot because he has a company truck. Back early spring he started it and pulled it out and let it run to warm up while he went back in the house and when he looked out the window the truck was on fire. It had several mouse nests under the hood on the engine and they caught fire. Total loss and the insurance paid off pretty good.

I saw a 2016 Dodge Charger that was towed to my friends shop--wouldn't start..

He opened the hood and removed the big plastic cover over the engine intake and saw cotton batting sticking out everywhere...after a quick inspection of the wires going from the firewall to the engine,he found several were chewed in half...

He told the owner "I'm not qualified to repair something this new and complicated"..
Told him take it to a dealer,and make sure ALL the mouse nests were removed before starting it up!..

A woman I know also had a 2 year old Buick with less than 10,000 miles on it suffer the same fate..costed her a fortune to get a new harness installed ..

If car makers didn't use SOY based wire insulation,this probably wouldn't happen much..
Toyota is one of the worst offenders for using that type of wire..
I live about 400 feet away from a Toyota dealership,and I have heard they had several brand new ones in recent years that sat in the back of the lot quite some time,that wouldn't start or run right when someone went to take a test drive!..same issue..lots of wooded areas right between the dealership and my street..

No mice, or new signs of them, since early May.

... Until today... Signs in the sink and on the counter. Glue traps re-deployed...

We did spend about two weeks in there, cleaned out all the food but didn't vacuum or really clean the surfaces yet. Now I know what else I'm doing tomorrow.

Unfortunately next month is when they usually start looking for new places to nest for the winter...:(

I have been lucky so far,no mice have been in my house since last fall,no signs of any at least..,but I have heard some noises in the wall in my bedroom that may or may not have been the house settling from cooling down after a hot summer day..

You don't have to spray it everyday

get yourself a small container like an old Altoids container or breath mint container cut slots in it.

put in a small cotton cloth in and spray it real good. fasten it into your engine compartment with either tape or zip ties. Spray once every couple weeks

They're BAAAAAACK...

I've had the RV home for a week (since recovering it after a breakdown during our vacation). Apparently, I'd forgotten that the little monsters started taking a liking to the place again in early August (before my mom and friend died, since then I'm lucky to know my own name).

Anyway, opened the driver door tonight, dead baby mouse on the inside side footwell.

Didn't even need a trap, apparently...

I suggest a LOUD Stereo with some magnum bass speakers and blast them with Guns and Roses cranked up to 10 for 24 hours !
That should get them to vacate.

and alternate with some Rapper type stuff and latest current so called country music with maybe a video and they will commit suicide if they cannot escape.:tango_face_wink:

Maybe the "new" mice were ones you brought back from NY ?..

I recall one day at my friends repair shop,a car was towed in that had sat a long time before the customer bought it,and wanted him to fix all it's ails before he gave it to his daughter..

The car sat in his dirt parking lot several days before he was able to get it in the shop & up on the lift..

We were standing a few feet away talking,when I noticed something moving under the car when it was up on the lift..my friend looked too,and said "Oh crap--it's a friggin mouse!"..and it leaped off the frame rail and landed on the floor,and it zoomed off and went under the tire rack...

"Oh great",he said..like I don't have enough mice in here already!"..

The car came from RI,and I joked "maybe your MA mice will beat him up and get rid of him"!..

We sat down to eat some lunch shortly after that--and we heard loud squeaking and squuealing,we walked over to the car and saw two mice clinging together,clawing and biting each other!..we couldn't tell if they were fighting-or mating..

My friend had the overhead door open about a foot to let exhaust fumes escape,and he kicked them with his boot like a football,and they both landed out in the parking lot about 40 feet away..they just laid there like they were dead..

We were laughing ,and went out to see if they really were dead,and as we approached,they must have "woke up" from being stunned by the kick,and both scurried off in different directions...

Later on that afternoon we determined that car needed a new electric fuel pump--when we lowered the gas tank,we found a mouse nest,with several newborns in it!..

We put the nest outside,thinking the "momma" mouse might come get them--but a little while later I saw a big hawk chowing them down...my friend felt bad but said "I hope the hawk gets the other two,otherwise I'll have 100 more in here..

We found six mouse nests in used tires one day that were up on a rack about 12 feet high,that had been there a long time--a guy came in looking for a used tire,and they were on the top row --one had three babies that were alive in it...but not for long..they got put outside..

We do not allow our mice to hitchhike. They need to keep the cats busy. :tango_face_smile_bi

Another amusing story that happened at my friends shop was about 5 years ago,a guy had his Chevy 1 ton dump truck towed in,it died on the interstate and he was pretty sure it was the in-tank electric fuel pump,because he had been smacking the bottom of the gas tank with the ignition on to get the pump to start working for awhile..

We had to work on the truck outside,as it was too big to fit in his bay --but raising the dump bed provided easy access to the top of the gas tank...
When we raised the bed up,both of us couldn't believe what we saw..
There was a CHICKEN sitting on a nest on top of the fuel tank!..

My friend calls the owner of the truck,tells him "hey--did you know a CHICKEN has a nest on the gas tank ?--and it is sitting on it!--I think there are eggs in the nest too!".

The guy laughs and says "Oh no,not that stupid chicken again--this is like the third time I have found it nesting there!..he said it was his wife's,an "Aurocana" or something..her "pet",and she'd been worried sick it had been killed after not seeing it for several days..

The wife came to get the chicken,and it flew off into nearby woods & swamp when she went to pick it up...she and two of her kids spent most of the afternoon chasing it ,before they finally caught it..they were all muddy and stunk like skunk cabbages !..

The husband said "go ahead and put a new pump in,and the sending unit--gas gauge hasn't worked right in years,may as well do both"....
When we pulled the old fuel pump out--there was about an inch of gas left in the tank--we both agreed the truck had just run out of gas!..but we replaced the parts anyways..

Funny thing was,the chicken went for a 65 mile ride each way that day,to a job site,at speeds around 70 mph...:eek:
