this has been an interesting read...you could cross over to the Darkside and buy a pair of 400's with 72" decks you and Mrs could race mowing :hide:

ive been researching the 1025 and the breakout force of the loader is in the 1500 pound area, but if you need the power strictly for moving tractors then i suggest a forklift. in my experience the mid 80's Mitsubishi's are bulletproof and fairly abundant.

as for snow removal, i know you dont like it but a plow on the truck will be the least expensive to get started...but fall is still a long way off. good luck and hope you enjoy the new place:)

You had mentioned somewhere you had considered a new x758 (might have been in a text message?), but why not move into a 1025? You already have an x7,so it would be two nearly identical machines. The 1025 moves you into a new category of options. The rops unit folds down, and can actually be removed entirely if needed for mowing around trees.

This thread has gone quiet since Mr Beef is hunting.... :D.... More on that later but there are several targets. Just need to pull the trigger. :ROF

400's w/ 72 deck?? What are those? If you are saying actual JD 400, I want something newer..... If not brand spankin' new I want it to be a commercial unit that is nicely kept. Mrs Beef is already practicing with the X748. :fing32:

A 1025 is too small. I am after a 3k rated forklift but it has to have pneumatic tires adding to the cost.... Plus the logistics of transporting a forklift become difficult so that is a later date purchase.

I understand the economy version of a plow truck but that won't fly. (The invitation still stands to anyone that wants to try and sell this idea to Mrs Beef...) I could get into a cheap plow truck for 5k but i am not interested in some POS that I have to work on. A decent plow truck I would be happy with looks to run about 13-15k with yearly expenses of $1500-2000 between fuel, registration, and insurance....

The new X758 would have been for the snow removal aspect with a cab. But the bang for the buck is not there... A fully set up snow rig with cab will run 23k+.... I can get a 3R CUT for a little more coin. :fing32: or maybe a 4R..... :hide:

We close on Friday so at someo pint this weekend I'll have an update or a new thread. :thThumbsU

More than excited!

Best of luck with your move and congratulations on the new place. :thThumbsU

I'm a little late to the party on this one. Haven't been spending enough time on MTF because life has been getting in the way.

I don't have any suggestions for mowing that haven't been brought up already so I'll leave that to the experts. Although with that kind of property you could have 5 or 6 kids and get them each a 112 RF with a 38" deck so that they can gang mow the estate. :sidelaugh

I know you've pretty much said a plow truck is out of the question since it's a single use vehicle, but have you considered something along these lines?

I plowed with one of these for years and they make great plow machines. They are very nimble and can move lots of snow. You only need a 6.5' plow for the front of one and they are much easier to store. Then in the summer, when you don't need to plow snow, the top & doors come off making it an extremely fun convertible. I drove one for years, until the need for a pickup truck won out over the fun of the Wrangler but when we had it my wife & I spent many hours riding trails through the Northwoods, and having tons of fun climbing rock walls & exploring all over the place. Also makes a very handy hunting vehicle.

Buyer beware though, owning one of these can create a whole new obsession.

II thought a plow on your present "tow" truck would be the ticket. The plow can be used from old truck to new truck. Not only is it economical but it will get you home on some of those blowing snow days. :hide:
Don't try to get TO work on those days but it is really nice to get HOME on those days! It looks like you live in town now. Trust me, when the snow blows in the open country you want a good chance to get through! :thThumbsU
Hope everything goes good on your closings. Enjoy the range where the Deere and the antelope play!! :sidelaugh

Well I got skunked on the hunt today.... I was after a front mount mower and a CUT... folks at the auction valued them higher than I did.... so the search continues!! :ROF

I have really zeroed in on a decent front mount mower. However, finding an appropriately priced one is turning out to be a little bit of a chore. It seems as though everyone wants about double what they actually sell for...... :ROF

Hang in there! It just wasn't meant to be today... and the right fit will come to you. It'll happen...

I thought about your mowing dilemma today. My 8 year old is now big enough to mow safely. We mowed the field together, he with the 7 iron on the X748, me with the 430 to the side behind him. Cutting close to a 10 foot wide swath makes things go fast. We were in 18" tall grass too. I hate to say it but the 430 had a nicer cut in these conditions today. Maybe you and the wife can just team mow?

Pics or a video of that wouldve been cool!

:fing32: now that sounds like some serious fun!! I have always liked the cut of the 60 inch deck under the 420 and 430 units. Both of which are a possibility as we move forward and get settled in. I am hoping in the next year I can find another project machine(s) that I can play with. Something like a 420 that needs an engine rebuild or a 430 that needs some help. The main reason I am not after one right now is the inherent maintenance that initially comes when you buy one. It all goes back to that collecting vs worker aspect. :D

In the end I am sure the Beef herd will become more diverse after this move! :hide:

What's everyone's opinion on this?

Looks like there's plenty of room in that cab for a chest of ice and your favorite malted beverages... lol

You'd be as happy as a pig in........

I think you'll find it's a better snowblower then a gt.
:thThumbsU the blower has a little wear but still serviceable.

:ROF... It does have a decent amount of room in it.

Kyle,

Looks pretty darn nice and if the air conditioning in the cab works then that would be the cat's meow on those hot summer days mowing grass!

Roger
Sadly no AC.... But it does have heat and a fan. The soft sides and door are easy enough to remove.

But even the canopy should provide some nice shade as I mow.

Guess we will know more on Saturday. :ROF.....

First, are you buying this just for the package of weights! :sidelaugh
Next, is this for "Mr" or "Mrs" Beef? :hide:
Looks like a sweet machine for your nice "yard".

Good luck.

So I have a question. Are you buying more equipment to maintain the property, or are you buying the property so you can justify buying more equipment? [emoji1]
