Hi,
I'm looking for a new lawn tractor for mowing and hauling a cart and wanted something a bit heaver duty than the standard riding mower at most box stores and one with larger tires.

For my budget I've narrowed my choices to the Husqvarna TS 248G or the Cub Cadet XT1 GT50.

Both have the same K58 tranny and appear to have the same features and engine size.

I've read the Kawasaki engine is one of the best options for these machines but I'm not familiar with the Kohler engine in the XT1.

Anyone familiar with these models that has any feedback?

Thanks,
Kirk

Well the thing to keep in mind the Cub Cadet has a C style channel frame and the Husqvarna has a stamped Frame which tend to have issues recently someone with a TS 300 series Husqvarna hit a hole while Mowing and bent the Tractor Frame Don't get concerned with the engine Kohler Makes a fine Product the Only Issue Kohler had with the 7000 series In the Cub Cadet line was fixed the Oil drain had issues a few years ago and that has since Been corrected By Kohler. Not that You may be Planning on one but the XT1 GT50 will support a Johnny Bucket Jr while the TS248G will not again do to the stamped Frame design
Take a Look at the Parts Manual for the Husqvarna Linked below look at page 6 & 8 will show you the Frame & Take a Look at the screen shot of the XT1 GT50 frame.
If You want a Machine that will hold up to the standard abuse a Lawn & Garden tractor goes through just doing what You want to do with it. The XT1 GT50 is the One You should go with over the Husqvarna (y)

Thank you, I was wondering about the frame... I read somewhere the TS100 series still uses the C Channel frame and that person only recommended that line over the other Husky options.

I might be interested in attachments later, the plow might be handy so l'll get the XT1, which is also $400 less with a Tractor Supply coupon I have.

BTW Cub Covers everything for 3years and a Unlimited Hr warranty. Have a Friend with a XT2 GX54 D He Had some Minor Issues with it But Cub Covered everything no questions asked. MTD really does stand Behind there Products. if Your read those Husqvarna threads You would also see Husqvarna really doesn't stand a 100% behind there Products Like MTD does So I think You'll Be Happy with the XT1 GT50 If You get a front Blade for it Make sure You Buy this one FastAttach™ All-Season Plow - 19A30037100 | Cub Cadet US Model 19A30037100 there is another One Model 19A30017OEM it lasted 1 season of snow removal for My friend On his XT2 replaced it with 19A30037100 and it Handles Moving snow Dirt, Gravel and sand Looks Like this Pictured Below (y)

That was the one I was looking at...

I was also interested in the box scrapper but I see I would need the XT2, not sure the extra $$ would be worth the little use I would probably get out of the scrapper.

My suggestion is to wait and Higher a Landscaper to mow Until You Can order a Machine or
That GX50 that is 2 hrs away since that is a Cub Dealer Rent a U-haul truck and Trailer with it U-haul rents Pick Up trucks as well or Buy some ramps and Just rent the U-Haul Pick Up there 8 foot Beds and there 2WD so Not that High of a distance to get it Up & down ramps Get some ratchet straps to tie it down also a full size cargo Van will also work There standard Panel truck will work as well But if You Can rent a Pick up or a Cargo Van that will be Better (y)

If You Can afford it I would look at a XT3 series with a 50inch deck
XT3 GS with a 50inch deck is $5,298.99 Manual steering, Manual lift for Front Blade & Mowing deck No diff/lock Sleeve Hitch capable
XT3 GSX with a 50inch deck is $6,298.99 You get Power steering, Electric Lift for Front Blade & deck & diff/lock Sleeve Hitch capable
There about the Lowest Price Premium Garden tractor You Can get
I have Had a XT3 GSX for 2 years Now as June of this Year I Mow about 2 acres of My 3.9 acres the rest Is Garden. . It will handle Your Property well I also Have a aftermarket electric Lift Kit On the OEM Sleeve Hitch which Makes sleeve Hitch work easier(y)

I have considered that, looks like a great machine.

Since it looks like I need to order one, at the moment I'm leaning toward the XT2 GX50 (54 is tight for my shed without making changes that would limit my tool storage).

If we clear some of the land behind the house the XT3 might be part of that project but for now the XT2 is probably the best fit.

Good luck! The GX 54 D would be a nice $300 upgrade over the GX 50, if feasible. The beefier transmission, and differential lock, could be a big help if you started to use it for more substantial pulling tasks. Plus the wider desk, of course.

I believe the GX 50's K58 tranny is essentially an upgraded K46, while the K62 is a beefier unit. The K46 is what's in the X3xx Deere series. Agreed that the Cubs give you quite a bit more for the price.

Oops, thanks. Maybe I was thinking of something I'd read about the K57, then. I thought the K58 was a K46 with a charge pump. Thanks for pointing that out. When you say internal changeable filters, does that mean you have to disassemble/remove something to change the filter? Like pull the transmission off?

Awesome, congrats! Hopefully it comes in soon.

I would think 54" to 58" would be pretty tight. I don't think I've measured my deck width, but it's 48" fabricated, and I think the shed door is 60". It's not like I've only got an inch to spare, but with the chute deflector on the deck, it was tighter than I expected (coming from 42" and mulching, so no chute deflector).

Flipping the deflector up, or now mulching, helps. But I've got to think there's a good chance the deck will be at least 4" wider than the cutting width. So 54" would probably be cutting it close. And having access to much stronger equipment than a GT is pretty cool

Even if it's only 2" wider that leaves an inch on either side, 700 lbs machine against a resin style shed is not going to look good.

It will be great, I'm glad the TS 248G I ordered had an issue on delivery, that opened the door to find a better option.
