I have the chance to buy a 30" mechanical tiller for $500. It came off a 345 but dont know much about them. It looks like brand new. Would like to use it on my 345 and my 320 too if possible. Anything I need to know about these or what to make sure I have with it?

As long as it comes with the Lift Parts for the 325 It will fit Your 345 Or 320 Parts circled In red. You Can still buy all the Parts from Deere for that configuration as Individual Parts, But not as a Kit. The Parts not circled In red should be On the tiller Frame already (y)

Like biggoodjohn said, make sure you get the studs from the rear frame of the tractor that it was on.
These tillers work great and they are easy to maneuver and operate. Make sure you have a couple suitcase weights on the front of your tractor when using, otherwise it will buck like a bronco. Actually depends on the soil that you are tilling.

Last year I ran 4 suitcase weights and 50lb wheel weights way overkill. This year I am only running 4 suitcase weights. I ran a 30-inch 23 Years ago on a 240(should have never given that tiller and tractor to My cousin). Bought a 30-inch Last year from gt275. I haven't used my 42-inch Hydraulic or 48-inch 647 yet this year. Just the 30-inch. With Plowing, it still took me two Passes with the Tiller to get the soil right for planting on a previous prepped garden plot. New soil it may take you a few Passes to get your Garden bed ready for planting. It's the one tool I wish Deere did not get rid of for the X500 series. While the Hydraulic tiller is great. They can be just plain heavy for the 325 through X590. I think the Hydraulic tiller is better suited for a tractor with a 3 point. But gt275 went to a hydraulic tiller for His 345/GX345 to replace the 30-inch he sold me. I think Deere should have maybe Increased the Mechanical PTO tiller width to 36-inches Like Simplicity(Sovereign, Conquest, Prestige) or Wheel Horse(308 through 520H, 260, 4XT and 5Xi series) did But at least the 30-inch sticks out further on right side (y)

I ended up buying it and it came with everything I needed. It looks like brand new like it was only used once or twice. im looking forward to using it. I have 4 suitcase weights and a cast iron set of 70lb wheel weights, I'll see if I end up needing them.

I found didn't need the wheel weights. I was just to lazy to take them off from winter that year. I Know the Manual suggest 3 suit case in the front and 3 suitcase in the Rear (y)

I have the 42" Hydraulic tiller on my gx345 now and like the fact that it tills the entire path as you move forward. That was the one thing I didn't like about the 30" tiller. Other than that it was great. I also like that it can till in both directions by flipping the brackets around. Not easy, but at least it can be done.
Sergeant and I both feel we did well by the sale since he really wanted a Mechanical tiller and I wanted to move into the Hydraulic tiller. The hydraulic tiller is a beast, but you have to have the stamina to handle installing and removing since it is very heavy and awkward or have a helper which is almost impossible, since nobody ever has time to help.

I always try to have 2-3 suitcase weights on the front with the 42" hydraulic tiller because it can be difficult to turn. Going straight is fine though.

The One thing I wish Deere Had done is have the 325 through GX355 have it come with the bigger lift cylinder to begin with. Which they did do that with the X500 series (no need to Upgrade the Hydraulic cylinder). I know GT275 didn't upgrade the cylinder. I think what it is, I don't Like Moving it around Off the Tractor. I was the helper for a friend with his X530 and a Hydraulic tiller. I don't have to do it anymore as He bought a 2nd tractor an X540 which he only has to take the tiller off the X540 every other Year to change Trans fluid and now that he has a cement floor In his shed it isn't too bad for him. The compacted dirt floor was terrible, Those little assist wheels would dig right into the dirt floor.

I really wanted the 30-inch for Cultivating the Melon patch until the Vines grow out. But this year I decided to do the Garden prep with the 30-inch as I used to use it for every Part of the Garden prep with Gardens I had In Georgia, Missouri, New York & North Carolina (y)

Hey guys, this thread is very old but figured I try my luck. I just bought a used 30 Inch mechanical tiller to install on my 1999 325. It seems it’s missing the parts for lift and linkage. I can’t seem to find the left and right side clip, part # AM121050 and AM121051. I’m posting a few pics of things I need, if anyone can point me in the wrong direction. These two clips are obselete according to JD dealer.

Posted pic below, I will def keep an eye out on eBay daily. I’m sure eventually something will pop up. Figured I post on here and get lucky and someone has the parts or knows where I could find them. Thanks for the reply. I also started a new thread because I wasn’t sure if anyone would reply to this one because it’s a few years old.

You could try Fulton Mower Salvage, they may have what you need. They sell on eBay but not everything they have is listed there:

Awesome, thanks man I appreciate that. I found a guy in Washington state with tiler for sale and he was willing to take some parts off it to sell to me, so closer to mounting, just need a few more parts I can get at dealer I think.
