When I was young I learned to mow on my Grandpas John Deere tractor.

I thought it was a 110 round fender but wondering if it could be a 112?

I really dont know what the differences are.

Is there anything in the picture below that would distinguish between the two? And also anything unique about this one like options?

I plan on buying one next year for a winter project to restore after our new house is finished.

Thanks

Rich

It's a 110. Look at the numbers just behind and above the variator handle. I downloaded the pic and enlarged it, cleaned it up a tad, but the resolution isn't good enough to get it completely clear. The last digit is a zero, I'm about 95% sure.

Are you the little one, or the big one, sitting there?

Great picture, that's the year after I graduated from high school. 1973 was a wild year for me, I'm sort of amazed I survived it.

I am the big one. Not sure who the little one is. I asked my Mom to dig up any tractor pictures she could find. I was born in 61 so had to be about 12 at the time.

I had been riding that for a couple years at this point and shortly after this picture was taken my Grandpa traded it for a new Bolens hydrostat. The bolens was amazing but my fondest memories were with the JD

Cool. How can you tell its a 1967?

I forget but the pedal with rods on the right side was to engage PTO right?

It had a tiller on it and of course the mower deck. I dont think it got any other duty except a lot of horsing around.

OK well guess I need to learn more about what changed. I know the 110 came out in the early 60s and ran into the early 70s? And they had round fenders and the squared off ones. thats about all I know.

I scaled that picture down to post it. If I had thought you guys were going to blow it up to see the details I would have posted the original. http://www.ctiowa.com/jd110-full.jpg

Once it opens you may have to click the picture to enlarge depending on your browser.

Thanks guys.

Awesome !

I guess I will keep my eye out for a 67 model then. I am not in a rush to find one as it will have to go to storage until house is done. But if I find the right tractor on Craigslist I will grab it.

I just sold my 1967 Z28. Guess I must be destined to have something 67 in my garage :)

I will stick this in for general info. The 1967 110 used a k181 Kohler engine
8hp. It used a 38 mowing deck.

The big difference between a 110 and 112 is the engine. A 1967 112 used a HH100 10 hp Tecumseh engine, so it was able to use the bigger 46 deck. Execpt for that both the 110 Rf and 112Rf used the same accesories.

I have a 1967 112 which I hope to do the cosmetic resto in the spring. Mecanically it's totally rebuilt.

heres what i know
-the original 110 rf's had the three speed, but then were switched to the 4 speed in 65 i believe. not too sure. however, there WAS a 110 rf with a 4 speed.
-112 had the electric deck lifts, which is the reason for the extra levers on the left side of the dash going under the hood.
-112's also had a 4 speed manual tans.
-i think that the 140 was the first hydro john deere.

im not much a deere guy so please correct me if im wrong

The first 110 1963 had the 7hp version of the k181. 1964 they switched to the 8hp version of the k181.
Trans. are like greenspot110 said.

The 112 came out in 1966 you could get a manual lift standard or you could order one with the hydrauilic lift. This was not a dealer option you had to get it from the factory that way.

The 110 also had the hydraulic option starting in 1966.

The electric lift wasn't standard on a 112 until I belive 1972.

This really turned into a good 110 thread. I appreciate the info and I am sure future searchers will find it as well.

I found the below picture in another thread but cant remember where I found it so cant give credit. But this is an awesome looking tractor. Even my fiance is excited about me doing one as a project.
