Greetings fellow JD enthusiasts. I have been away from MTF for a while and am checking in to see what's new in the SCUT tractor market. Hope all of you old timers are doing well.:howdy:

The new BX80-Series has really raised the bar, and I assume JD is working hard to keep the 1-Series competitive. So I am wondering if you guys can fill me in on any updates and improvements that have been made in recent years to the 1025R?

Same engine/transmission?

Loaders?

Hydraulic functionality? Still just H2?

Backhoe (does it still need the kludgey extra seat?)

Mower Decks? Is Drive-Over/Auto-Connect standing the test of time?

ROPS - - what is going on with the forward slanted ROPS??

Front 3PH?? Are there any attachments for this yet? Pros/cons?

Cabs?

Current/recent promos/rebates/financing incentives?

Anything else?

Also, in the used market, are there any issues that have come up over the years with the 1025R as far as shortcomings, design flaws, problems, maintenance, etc?

Thanks for any news you can share. I've been reading through old threads and have found info on some of these topics in various places, but am hoping to hear the latest/greatest. Much appreciated.

Hey UT great to see you back!

I'm not much of one to dabble in the 1 series... I like the X700's and the 3 and 4 series...

The only issue I have heard repeatedly is the air filter bracket breaking.... Deere has released at least two updates to this. Other than that they seem to be holding up pretty well.

Hello Prof. Beef! Thanks for the warm welcome! :thThumbsU

As you know, I like those X700s very much, too. But I'm keeping all options open. And @royrector's observations on his X748 v. his 1025R is some serious food for thought. The side-by-side comparison is very interesting.

I appreciate the comment about the air filter bracket. I will make a mental note.

Any other comments from anyone about model year changes or feature changes to the 1025R?

Also, is there anything about the original 1026R configuration that would suggest steering clear of a used example?

Same engine/transmission? Yes

Loaders? The laoder changed last year. I beleive it is now a T120. It will lift maybe 50 more pounds.

Hydraulic functionality? Still just H2? There is a elelctric over hydraulic field installed kit that JD has kept delaying. It was suppoese to be available in November 2018. There is photos/discussion on the GTT site lumped in with the new 4-way bucket.

Backhoe (does it still need the kludgey extra seat?) Backhoe was rediesignerd for 2018. Now a 260B. Sub-frame changed dramatically and it now has a separate seat.

Mower Decks? Is Drive-Over/Auto-Connect standing the test of time? No issue, if installed/setup correctly. Sadly, this is an issue at a lot of dealers. I did my own and have had zero issues.

ROPS - - what is going on with the forward slanted ROPS?? I suspect this is either a regulation response or lawsuit response.

Front 3PH?? Are there any attachments for this yet? Pros/cons? So far, the front 3ph is only offered in Europe.

Cabs? The JD marketed Mauser is the way to go for non-backhoe and the Tektite for backhoe.

Current/recent promos/rebates/financing incentives? There is usually always something.

Anything else?

Also, in the used market, are there any issues that have come up over the years with the 1025R as far as shortcomings, design flaws, problems, maintenance, etc? The engine air cleaner is a big issue. The mount breaks, or worse yet, the valve cover breaks open and piece fall into the engine. There is a JD solution published relocating the air cleaner to the radiator core support. Not a recall. I had mine updated while still in warranty. There is quite a bit of discussion on this on the GTT forum: https://www.greentractortalk.com/forums/sub-compact-utility-tractors-scut/.

Thank you very much for your reply - - very helpful.

Too bad about the way that BH was redesigned. The second-seat arrangement just seems very clunky for a machine in this size range. What was considered wrong with the old BH that it needed to be redesigned so drastically, and is it still an option?

Also too bad about the front 3PH availability. That seems like a very desirable way to go, imo.

Again thanks for your input.

John deere is now doing a 12 year warrenty on the 1-4 series tractors.
The little fuel filter was also relocated from between the frame to under the fuel tank. I like that spot better.
