I like the fact that a 5'x10' trailer would trail behind my 3/4 ton GMC but should I go to a 6'x10' utility trailer that would still be within my mirrors but wider than the truck. I don't have anything that wouldn't fit the 5'x10'.

You may have answered your own question when you said everything fits in a 5x10, but if you think you might need the extra room in the future, the price difference isn't that much. The width of the tow vehicle is not critical.

I have a 5x10 and it is good for most everything. Has a pressure treated deck (are way better than expanded metal in the long run) and a 3500 lbs. axle. Only drawbacks are my new 60" deck doesn't fit, and it doesn't carry enough bulk mulch. As I said the 5x10 is great and easy to store.

Try backing up a trailer that you can't see in the mirrors.

I like my 8' x 18". With my Chevy van, I wouldn't be able to see either a 5' flat bed or the LT on it. I can just see the top of the hood of my GT as it is.

The 60" deck is the issue for me also and auctions I go too. It is all about what your needs are, but I just made this decision a couple of years ago and went with a much wider trailer so I could see the sides in my mirrors and the dealer gave me the same price on the 10ft or 12ft. I went with the 12ft. It is all personal choice. Good Luck.

I have a 5x10, the 54" deck on the ZTR barely get's on there, usually a little bumper car activity if i don't hold my mouth right.
I can see one side good in the mirror, not so on the other. I mainly haul the mower & hay for horses with it, building materials occasionally. I'd love to have the 6x to haul a Gator occasionally, no big deal being i can borrow one & the infrquency on which i do actually use it.
I just replaced the tires, tread good, the sidewalls were dry rotting, not bad for a 15 year old trailer & it's light enough to move by hand even at my age.

Well,,, if you EVER get a 24G,,,, you will need a 6 1/2 x 10,,,,

My 24G will fit on this 6 1/2 foot wide trailer with one inch to spare,,, :hide:

AND, that is with the discharge chute removed,,, :dunno:

I have a 6x10 utility trailer because I didn't have the extra $100 to spend on the 6x12 when I bought it (2003/3004). Kick myself for that decision at least once a year. It's amazing how long our tractors get when you install things like snowblowers, weight decks, Johnny Buckets, baggers, etc.

For a long time, I've thought about buying a bigger trailer. Now, I'm thinking about upgrading to a bigger, and dumping, trailer. Need to work on some fundage...

Thanks to everyone for your input. Today I found a 6'x 12' at another dealer. Looks like that is the way I am going to go.

Just got it Tuesday and loaded it for the first time today. Now I need to add tiedowns.

Nice trailer, with plenty of room. I like the flat fenders. :thThumbsU

Thanks for following up, and for the pics. :thThumbsU

Beautiful looking trailer, and a great choice of size! Unbelievable that they built it with tubular (boxed) steel instead of angle iron! :dancingpa

I really like that they built in marker lights that you can see in your mirrors. Got any pics of the rear end (and lights)?

Amazing that there were no tie down points. Can never have enough of those.

What am I missing about those stake pockets? They look like you can't actually use them, as they are directly under the top rail. How do you make those work? My trailer could use some of those for sure. :dunno:

That is a great looking trailer!! :fing32:

As far as tie downs, those square tube ends have always seemed more convenient than any type of loop.

A loop may work with an open end strap hook, but, they are horrible for use with a chain hook. :fing32:

The dump trailer I showed in a previous post has the "D" rings in each corner,,,,

loop the chain through the ring, hook back on the chain, that is the only way to use them.

Luckily, the sides are high enough, 99% of the time I do not chain down the load,,,

about 10 years ago a guy retired from my former work place.. he was movin & gave me a dropcenter axle he had.. it was brand new .. I think it is a 2500## model.. but later I made a trailer for it.. the bed is 6-4 wide & 8-1 1/2 long.. the drop center allowed me to have my deck just 16 inches off the ground.. I have no problem loading any mower on it.. the deck is the 14 gauge diamond deck plate steel.. I was able to buy the new steel from my work place.. the deck stuff was drop off scrap which I fitted the pieces together.. I have around 200-300$$ in this one now..original sides were just 3/4 x 12 boards but I redid them to the 5/4's deck treated wood.. the tongue is 2 x 2 x 1/4 wall & is long enuf that I can have the trailer 90 degrees to the pickup.. drop the tail gate & load a mower on it with same ramps I made for the trailer..
