Re: And the rest of the story

That's a shame. I always liked him.
On the other hand,Gordon Lightfoot is coming to town and I thought he died years ago.

Byron,
A legend for sure! And one that will not soon be forgotten by millions of people!:thanku: Paul Harvey:thThumbsU

:sorry1:

Re: And the rest of the story

That is sad to hear, though he lived a very full life. He definitely had a great impact on mine from an early age. His show was one of the few things my father would listen to religiously.

Paul Harvey had more common sense in his little finger than many of us will ever hope to achieve.

RIP.

Re: And the rest of the story

That is a bummer, I have been listening to him pert near every day since 1981.

Re: And the rest of the story

He will be sorely missed. i used to listen to him all the time, then the local radio station quit carrying him. another station picked him up, but they are far enough away my radio in teh office could not hear them.

Re: And the rest of the story

I will miss his gentle wisdom. What he lacked in impartiality he more than made up for in fairness. Sail on Paul Harvey.

Paul Harvey passed away yesterday in Arizona @ his home..at the age of 90.

Quite a character and a true American Legend--Salute!!:congrats:

I guess we'll never really know the end of the rest of the story...

Re: And the rest of the story

RIP Paul Harvey. A very popular local radio station carried his 3 messages (9am, 12:30pm & the 3pm "the rest of the story") 5 days a week and businesses would practically come to a hault while he spoke.

Of all his stories, this one has always stuck with me.
He told it about 15 to 20 yrs a go.
There were two HS basketball teams battleing it out for a regional championship (I think) and they were so perfectly matched that neither team could get more than a 2 point advantage. There was an equal number of players on each team, same for cheerleaders and even the spectators. As even a contest as there ever was.
The game came down to a last shot. The game was so close and exciting that no one dared to leave the court for fear of missing something. So just before this last shot, a shot that could win it for the home team, a fan of the visiting team couldn't hold it anymore and he got up and ran out to the restroom. This left the home team with a one person advantage and when the shot was launched, all the folks for the home team began to pray that he hit it while all the fans of the visiting team began to pray that he'd miss. Well, since the home team had the one person advantage their prayers won out, the shot was made and the home team won :D :D
I may have some of it wrong but the "gist" of the story is correct :D

I'll miss him too..listened to him for years, though not recently...
Always had interesting and uplifting stories on his news shows..

He had a unique style...he'd always pause after saying
"I'm Paul Harvey"........................................................................
......................................................Good Day!....

RIP to another legend, one of "The Greatest Generation"....

Another great radio voice of the people (my kind of people anyway) passes. Precious few coming along to take his place in his gentlemanly gentle style. Sadly, now there's another 15 minutes of free time for Hydro just before noon...

John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and now Paul Harvey...an all too small group of American legends. We had these great people in our lives...what do the kids today have...?

RIP Mr. Harvey...you fought the good fight.
