Re: And the rest of the story
RIP Paul Harvey. A very popular local radio station carried his 3 messages (9am, 12:30pm & the 3pm "the rest of the story") 5 days a week and businesses would practically come to a hault while he spoke.
Of all his stories, this one has always stuck with me.
He told it about 15 to 20 yrs a go.
There were two HS basketball teams battleing it out for a regional championship (I think) and they were so perfectly matched that neither team could get more than a 2 point advantage. There was an equal number of players on each team, same for cheerleaders and even the spectators. As even a contest as there ever was.
The game came down to a last shot. The game was so close and exciting that no one dared to leave the court for fear of missing something. So just before this last shot, a shot that could win it for the home team, a fan of the visiting team couldn't hold it anymore and he got up and ran out to the restroom. This left the home team with a one person advantage and when the shot was launched, all the folks for the home team began to pray that he hit it while all the fans of the visiting team began to pray that he'd miss. Well, since the home team had the one person advantage their prayers won out, the shot was made and the home team won

I may have some of it wrong but the "gist" of the story is correct
