If you go to pawn shops and flea markets, yard sales, you'll find they are a gold mine of sorts--you'll see tools your father and grandfather used, that were built in the USA,with USA metal, and the best part is they usually sell for pennies on the dollar!...especially when clueless relatives are "cleaning out" a deceased persons estate--to them the tools are just rusty scrap iron, in a lot of instances!..

I've even been GIVEN tools that didn't sell, when I expressed a little interest in them before at yard sales and flea
markets!..like a set of brace and bit drills that looked to be never used in a case!..

I prefer buying "old" quality tools and goods ,rather than wasting my hard earned $$$ on new "junk" manufactured overseas, probably by child labor in a sweatshop!..like another poster here,my back is fubared too,and I cant afford to waste any money, when it's so difficult to make any now!..sometimes "used" is better than new,and tools are one example!..

Robert
Well said Robert, I also haunt flea markets and second-hand stores.
It is amazing what you can find for pennies on the dollar. :fing32:

Robert, When I was in the Army we used "Mickey Mouse" boots, thick felt liners,
thick rubber outer boots. They worked great for keeping our feet warm and dry.

Also, try a google search for "mickey mouse boots".
I hope this helps you. Mike

It is my "business decision" to support domestic companies who still believe in capitol investment in America. It is my business decision to seek out and buy American made products. It is a free country - buy as much imported throwaway tools from China & Wal-mart as you like. I feel like I am being drawn into a political argument and I really wish eveyone would respect the intent of this thread. The other was shut down due to political arguing - please stop it.

Depending on your perspective politics are discussed in depth at sites like redstate.com and dailykos.net - both are free to join and political arguing is standard fare.
QoS,
I don't know why you insist on labelling my posts as being political or argumentative, when they are not. This is a discussion about products and it is no different than other discussions on this forum that discuss the pro's and con's of Craftsman tractors vs Deere or Honda engines vs Kohler. Even those discussions can morph into issues of quality and longevity. You have taken a stance on certain issues concerning "tools" and put them on a public forum for discussion and yet you refuse to answer any questions about your stance that are put to you?

When people do that or they try to deflect the question; it indicates to those reading the thread that perhaps you are just posting a "rant" that really hasn't any merit. If I am wrong, then just provide a real reply to this question.

If, as a business woman, your business needs a certain type of tool to be competitive and efficient but you are unable to find an American company that produces an all-American made unit, will you refuse to buy that type of tool?

here is how I understand QOS original post. And having read the other thread that got shut down.

QOS is in search of companys that make quality American made tools, with American made steel. Not assembled in America tools with imported parts.

If I understand her postings correctly, and I think I do, all she wants is names of companys, that she can then email to verify that EVERY part is made in America.

I also beleive by no arguing she means NONE OF THIS OTHER STUFF! Nothing that leads to arguing. Nothing off topic. Just names of companys that she can investigate.

Caseguytoo. Your posts are valid, yes. Are they what QOS asked for in any of her posts. Nope. At least I see them as off topic. An explanation of why tools aren't made in America anymore wasn't asked for. The entire post about our banking system was not asked for. Tool comany names were asked for. Everything else is off topic. AND will lead this thread into being closed. As you so clearly pointed out in your 1st or 2nd post on this thread.

It's not actually a garden tool, but a garden harvest tool for the kitchen. The Squeezo strainer is made in Vermont as per a reply to my e-mail with the website: http://www.homesteadhelpers.com/get_list_25.htm

Her is my e-mail to them and their reply:

from asia? i am especially interested in knowing about the country of
origin of your canning equipment and the squeezo strainer.

GOOD MORING,
OUR SISTER COMPANY " BEST PRODUCTS" IS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE SQUEEZO
STRAINER. WE BOUGHT THE SQUEEZO COMPANY ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. THAT IS ALL
MADE IN THE US. WE ACTUALLY ASSEMBLE THEM RIGHT HERE IN VERMONT, AND
SHIP DIRECTLY FROM US HERE IN VERMONT.
THE OTHER PRODUCTS ARE NOT OURS. WE GET THEM FROM ASSORTED
VENDORS ACROSS THE US, BUT SOME OF THEIR ITEMS DO COME FROM CHINA.

MICHELLE

QoS,

I am sorry with what I said. I just reread my post and it did not come across the way I had intended it to. I can be kind of gruff with things I say sometimes as I have a tendancy of not rereading or rethinking things before I write or say it at times. Again I am very sorry if I offended you or hurt your feelings as I do believe you are trying to do the right thing, I will not try to defend myself as that would be pointless because once something is said you cannot take it back so I will again apologize for what I said and I am truely sorry.
