I picked up this early '99 with the bulletproof 7/3.

It's a CCSB configured with a 6 speed manual trans and transfer case, a rare configuration that I've been looking for specifically. Hasn't been chipped or tuned yet but plan on running a DP tuner to run along side the exhaust and intake. Not going to go crazy upping the power levels though on an engine that wasn't designed to be a fire breather but made for longevity.

It has a recent 6" suspension lift with 37 x 13.5 x 17's, MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust, intake, ARB offroad winch bumper, recon cab lights, cab protector, DVD/Navi unit. Overall it's in nice shape for it's age and is one heck of an HD truck that should last forever with the proper care.

Here are a few photos!

Nice truck Austen! There are days I miss my 01' 7.3 Powerstroke. Great engines!!!!

What are your plans for it? CCSB with a manual is a pretty rare bird.....

Hey Kyle,

Thanks!!

That's awesome you had one of these too. Have to love the simplicity, reliability and longevity of the 7.3 for sure.

Fortunately the previous owner had very similar tastes so a lot of what I would have done to a stock truck has already been done but there are definitely a few things I have in store yet.

-On board air compressor to work with the air shocks and proceeding mod
-Front and rear air lockers
-Replace the undesirable (to me) front bench seat with a pair of leather racing buckets (such as Corbeau or Bride) and a Ford center console
-Winch
-6.4/6.7 newer style SD tailgate
-Offroad rear bumper (such as an Ironcross) to match the front
-Possibly a GT38R turbo
-A Pillar gauges

Good luck with the new rig Austen, she's a good looking truck! The 4dr short bed diesel trucks are rather common around here, but manual transmissions are scarce. I prefer a manual trans myself for towing. Take care...

Very Nice straight looking Super Duty! I like the fender flares.
I too like the manual, especially in a big truck like that. Less issues and much better fuel mileage.

Good Luck with it.:fing32:

Not bad. I was after something like that but in an OBS truck (SD is not in the budget for a little longer). The manual trans is what makes yours especially rare, and a nice thing to have.

Thanks Bosox!!

Indeed. I've only had vehicles with standard transmissions all my life. I love the feeling of being connected with my vehicles as much as possible while driving them. The manual trans also offers quite a bit more engine braking and will hold a steadier speed on declines more than an auto which is also something that I really like. A lot of folks state that big manual diesels like this are a complete bear to drive in traffic. Other than a stiffer clutch pedal and throw that requires a bit more muscle, you get used to pretty quick and have no problem it. Lot's of fun to drive and I guess I'm so accustomed to a standard. It is also equipped with a short throw which makes the shifts quite a bit quicker over stock.

As this is my first diesel, one thing that you can let the clutch out with giving any throttle at all, unlike a vehicle with gas engine. Unless you're starting out on a hill, there's enough torque that it will not stall.

Thanks MU!

I agree, much less to go wrong with a manual.

Congrats on the nice rig.
Thanks! Great name BTW!! :cool

Awesome! Keep us posted on what you find. You're going to enjoy owning a very heavy duty truck that feels nearly indestructible.

Very nice Powerstroke! I love the Super Duty 7.3's. Indestructible motors. My buddy has almost the same truck, looks just like yours but has a 5.4 under the hood.
