Hi everyone, been awhile since I posted much. Been pretty crazy between getting ready for school, spending money on my truck, working 6 days a week, and trying to see my friends in between. Nothing to report from CT, except grey skies, 35* temps, and NO SNOW :Disgus: We have had a collective 1' between the 3 "storms" we have had so far, its not right. The tractors haven't gotten much action lately, there's just nothing to do around here this time of year. I am in the process of fixing up the GT/19.9 so stay tuned there, and I might have found an engine for the SS/16, which would then let me get started on the restoration. Cheers from CT :fing32:

I understand your frustration. When I first bought my house in 2005 we got two 12-18" storms that winter. That is when I got into the GT hobby. Now that I have all the equipment, the worst storms we have gotten could have been handled with this:

Sounds like we have gotten as much snow as you have this year. Been under the gun for the last two days with "light snow showers" which equated to about 3-4" so far and slick roads along with temps between 15-30*
I was able to use push broom to "shovel" most of it last night.
Stay warm and tractors warmer!!!

Winter isn't half over Hugh, dont worry...frigid arctic cold is headed back our way next tuesday and will likely hang around awhile, with a brief interlude of "normal" cold,so we are probably going to get more snow...meanwhile,enjoy the "thaw"..might be a good time to invent a wood stove or some heat source if the tractors are sitting idle..good time to get them ready for the next storm too..

Been using my tractor plow to push the sod I ran over with my truck in the rain the other night and made nice deep ruts in the mud..then I did it again yesterday..:(...
I need to leave some lights on when I go out ,so when I come home after dark I might be able to back in the driveway without going out of bounds and trashing the lawn--or scraping against the retaining wall blocks ....dark as a coal mine in my yard after sunset..especially when its rainy and your windows are all fogged up..

Nice to hear from you Hugh. Warm here too but we're still all kinda hunkered down for midwinter right now but alas, better days are coming. cept for next week when it's going below zero again lol. I tried the back blade to scrape some ice off the driveway this pm with James' 725 but got nowhere.. Black showing in places but still froze down too hard. And I need a Sears loader to attack the high bankings!

As always good to hear from you Hugh!:fing32:
we are behind normal average accumulation here also. a couple of decent snow falls, well, enough to check the equipment out... then thaw... then another teaser of snow! Hardly enough to make the tractors work hard. But it is early yet! March can always be a BEAR around my area

Glad you're back Hugh!!

wow, I got almost no snow left at all- bare driveway, most of my lawn is showing, front yard is all mud... I hope it cools of a tick to keep the yard frozen, but inly after it warms up to let me plow the ruts back flat...

I dont mind the cold temps at all, I just hate that there is nothing to do. I will have some time next week before school starts, I should probably work on the 19.9... :)

What's wrong with this pic.......it's January (or it was) January 17th, a guy wearing shorts, sneakers and a short sleeved shirt, pulling leaves from the flower beds and raking the lawn. Yup, bored, spelled B - O - R - E - D. Spending more time siting in front of the computer watching the webcam at the local (Boston) snow hill than anything else, this past week. Pretty warm outside, so I took a break. Got about half the lawn raked (aka dethatcher by hand). Kinda dry for this time of year. Broke out a new rake, too.
But New England weather changes. Rain today, then a burst of snow. Neighbor was on his way to Lee, MA in a U-Haul-It box truck but returned home (next door) when he was hit with the 6 - 8 inch snow blizzard this morning. And now part of my lawn is covered with sand from the contactor's up back water retainment wall that fell apart with all this rain.
Welcome back Hugh. You haven't missed much. :hide:

It snowed about 5" here last night no work this weekend, so I grabbed a couple cups of my morning coffee...XTRA black (real strong) and went out and cleared the drive way, the neighbor's drive way, and the other neighbor's drive way!! 2 1/2 hours seat time on the SS12 W/ SnowThrower! Thats the SECOND best way to start a Saturday!LOL:sidelaugh
And I still got my youngest daughter to Color Guard practice at 9:30!
Then after I got back home I broke out the ST16 W/ Dozer blade to clean things up a little!
God its good to be ALIVE:fing32::biglaugh:

Mike

yeah i cleared around 3" of snow off my driveway tonight with my ss14. Didn't want to start but i got it started and she did a great job. Put the new toy in the shop so i can get it ready for snowblower.

Hey mon! I've been wondering where you went. Where are you going to school? Is there a college of garden tractor technology? Don't forget to hold down the "ALT" key and type 2,4,8 to get the degree symbol °.........what are you going to get a degree in?
