I finally found the snowblower for my tractor, yay! But my rear end won't budge. Anyone have any ideas what I should look for before I spend any money. Model # 944.602811 that's the tractor. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi is the drive belt in place I have had one jump off the pulley and check that the freewheel pull tab on the rear drawbar area is in the in position, if you can roll the tractor around it maybe in the disengage mode.

Since you appear to be located in Canada I cannot look up your model number at Sears Parts. However, if you have a Hydro-Gear tranny you might need to change the fluid and filter if it can be done.

Is there a way you can look in your manual and provide the part number on your tranny? Some manuals will also put the brand of tranny at the top of the parts list with the mfg model number. After the model is determined you can try to find a matching service manual at Hydro-Gear's website.

Pictures are a big help also.

A 944.602810 has a Hydro Gear 314-0510, although you should actually look on the tag to confirm that yours does too.

You didn't describe what it "doesn't do".
Is the drive belt turning the pulley?
Is the free wheel mechanism disengaged?

I checked to make sure the belt is on, I think your right about the tractor being stuck in neutral. I have the 40" blower on it and we have gotten some good snow and it's killin' me that I can't go and play! Thanks for the tips, gonna check into it when I get home from work! Thanks again!

It doesn't do anything, doesn't whine, nothing is grinding, it just sits there. I made sure the belt is on, it's out of neutral etc. I thank you for the manuals, I will reference it with the numbers on the tranny. Thanks once again, couldn't do it with out you guys!!! Oh, and it's not frozen to the ground, I keep it stored in my igloo next to my pet polar bear! LOL!

Is it full of fluid? And have you tried bleeding the air out of it?

View attachment 583225 here are the numbers for the hydro gear, bare in mind these are Canadian #'s. If the gentleman that sent me the manual before could email me the manual again that would be great! carruthers.jeff@gmail.com

I don't think they are Canadian numbers, if I am reading that correctly it says made in U.S.

While water in the hydro is a possibility, those units I believed were sealed so water penetration is usually difficult.

I would check that the linkage from the F-N-R lever on the side is actually moving the lever on the side of the hydro. If the side lever is loose, it will not move the internal valving to engage either gear. You'll need an assistant, {or boss..} to move the lever while observing that the shaft actually rotates.
After starting the engine, the pump should be making noise if the clutch/brake has been released, allowing the belt to tighten on the pulleys. If the belt does not tension, due to binding linkage or rust or ???, the pulley on the top of the hydro will not spin and drive the pump. One other possibility is the pulley is loose to the input shaft of the hydro.
You could remove the belt, and try to turn the pulley by hand to see if it freewheels, or actually is driving the pump. If it is trivial to turn, and has no resistance, start looking for a replacement.

Thank you all for the very valuable advice and manuals. I'm going to weigh my options and figure out the best course of action in the next couple of days. I will post pictures soon. Thanks again!
