A couple weeks ago my oldest daughter gave me my first grand daughter. Shes as healthy as can be but Im already spoiling the heck out of her. I thought being a grand dad would make me feel old but it has me acting 25 years old again lol.

This week my 18 year old son enlisted in the Army. He will ship out March 25th for training. Hes been my buddy and closest friend so many years Its going to be hard to see him go. He helped me build almost every motorcycle, mower etc. He has always hinted around he wanted my "Sprint Car" Lawn Boy. I would laugh it off mainly because of the $$$ invested.

The other day it got me when we were out back and he said he was going to miss the Sprint Car and hoped it would be alive when ever he got home.......... Well Im putting it under the Christmas Tree. Its going into permanent storage until he has a home and then its his forever. A lot of good memories building these things but just like my son, I think its time to let it go.

Merry Christmas buddy, serve our country well!

Congratulations on your grand daughter! What a rollercoaster of emotions that you must be going through with your new grand daughter and you son (best friend) going to the army. Tell him I said Thank You. Your son has to be a real classy person, and very brave to put his life on the line and on hold for the good of this great nation. I have the highest respect for anyone who decides to join the military. I will pray that he is safe at all times, and may God watch over him as he defends freedom.:i_praying

Congratulations! You've a lot to be happy about, and proud of there BDM53. :fing32:

Congrats BDM! I'm sure you are very proud of both of them. Nice of you to give him your LB as well. I wish this country had more people like you and your son!! :thanku::trink39:

Thank you guys, it has been an emotional roller coaster ride for sure. I always thought my children leaving the nest would be neat but now they are bringing new ones back LOL.

The only question I had for my son when we started discussing this was, are you willing to die for your country, no questions asked. Without hesitation he said yes. I knew he was ready.

Good on you BDM! Thanks for sharing, congrats, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

It takes a certain kind of person to be willing to die for a cause or a country. It seems like you raised a very courageous man. My hats off to him!

Sounds like a very emotional time for you right now. That's a great gift for your son. He'll always remember the good times you guys had when he cranks it up, smells the 2 stroke exhaust, and mows the lawn.

To have a son fight for freedom is an awesome thing. Not only is he fighting for our freedom, he is fighting for other people's freedom. A selfless act without words to describe. Congrats on the grand-daughter! A newborn child is nothing short of a gift from God. :):):)

Please tell your soldier :thanku: !

I hope all of our boys come home soon. They have been away far too long (IMHO).
