Final product with the spring, tomorrow I will replace the 48" back axle bar with the correct 49" bar. and finish sanding the deck as the JB has had a couple days to cure.

Edit" The blue tape is holding the broken spring so I had a model to go from.

The final sanding, and wash with simple green is complete. I hand "Wet" sanded the top with P320, and got in between all the crevasas and seams. The underside was sanded with the Mouse, and hand sanded with P220.

Have the paint, but.... it's drizzleing outside, with 100% humidity :banghead3:crybaby:

Painting has begun. Man there is a lot of metal on this deck.

5 Cans of Blue and 4-1/2 cans of Black, almost 6 coats both sides, really filled in the rust divits. Will let this dry a few days now. No way it will rust now.

That low temp looks like a heat wave here- Good painting weather, though, the paint takes longer to dry and comes out really nice and shiny.

Agree, almost perfect painting weather, The paint went on real smooth, tacked up quick, could almost start the 2nd, 3rd, etc coat immediately. It has a silky look right now. I will let it set a few days before I try handling it.

On the top, under the belt cover it had some rust divits. I used a full can there, it filled in the divots nicely, I guess the paint is about 1/32 or better there.

Looks great Larry. Gotta agree, that painting weather is just about perfect . Just wondering here- have you ever considered going to a small touch- up gun for painting? Or do the cans just kinda work out well for you? Reason I ask it is so much more economical in the long run, and you always seem to have some sort of project going. :fing32:

I may at some point, the cans work fine at $1.25 a can, The Deck paint was a total of $12.50. Plus I have a few cans left over for "touch-ups.

Thanks

Oh, I guess at $1.25 / can it's hard to go wrong with doing it that way. I guess I was thinking more like 4- 6 bucks a can. ( I just bought a couple cases of spray cans for something real specific, and OMG was it expens$ve )

I haven't been totally inactive, I seemed to have mis-placed one of the steel spacers for the deck adjuster, I made a brass one but don't think it would hold up. I found a steel pully stand off and have been grinding it down. Looks like it will fit the bill.

I will try and find (4) spacers at fastenall but this should work for now.

That should work, I used drill bushings on one of mine, hard as a bearing race;)
