Picked this up about 4 years ago. Plucked it out of a fence row. Gave the old lady $100 for the boat and trailer. It had all kinds of vines and leaves in it and some field mice living it it. It was last plated in 1985. Took it home and refurbed it it with new wood for the seats, added the swivel seats, repainted/wired the trailer. It was last plated in 1985. Turned out pretty nice I think. It's a 12 foot Starcraft aluminum. The motor is a 1955 Johnson 5.5 horse we got from my Grampa that looks mint. We mainly use the Minnkota trolling motor though. Affectionately known as the Hammy Bear after our niece.

Nice job Brad! Now catch lots of fish. :fing32:

That's a classic fishing boat with thousands of hours of fishing just waiting to be done. Nice find and great restoration.

That old Johnson is one heck of a good motor. How do I know? My uncle left me one just like it. Mine has many hours of use on it and still runs great. He bought it new and was told to use only 30 weight non-detergent oil for the fuel mix. I've done the same and it's exceptional life span speaks to the wisdom of this.

Tight lines and happy times.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. She's not much but she gets the job done. Just wish I enjoyed fishing as much as the wife does. Thats one of her passions. She's got about 30 fishing poles at least to my 4. All of mine are the reliable Zebco 33's. I've got one small tacklebox and she has several larger ones.

GOOD GRIEF MAN!!!!

You've found Wonder Woman!

She is willing to be seen with you. She has access to a boat and motor. She likes to fish. And, she has her own fishing stuff!

You sir are living the good life!

If she can cook she's the perfect woman.

Brad .. Nice find & great restoration. And you're a lucky man!

Great boat! I've been looking for a Starcraft but here in Texas they are going for a ton of money. That motor looks brand new!! The best motor I ever had was a '85 Johnson 9.9. You just couldn't kill it.

Grampa is still around, Just doesnt do much fishing anymore. He's 84 now. We havent taken our niece fishing it in as I dont really think she'd like it too much. She's into running 5k marathons at the moment. Likes to keep moving.

Brad, yes, you did good man! That is my kind of fishing boat! Get 'er wet!

Brad, That is a great looking fishing rig. I noticed that the wooden motor reinforcement has a crack. I have a similar outfit, mine has a montgomery wards 5hp motor and the reinforcement cracked the same way. It would be a good idea to replace this, because even with a small outboard the transom will flex and may crack too. Cut your new reinforcement with the wood grain running verticaly to prevent this from happening again.

tight lines and fair weather
