I think it was 2022 I zipped in a few 2x2 and capped the tops of the poured concrete walls with ripped 2x8. Next, I cut and loosely attached some 1.5” or so thick foam board to the walls, planning on some day covering it all with corrugated steel. Today was finally the day!

I’ve had the metal for a couple weeks. I ordered 27.5” long but it came in at 27”. I probably should have done 28” and cut down the one or two pieces that would have been too long. Trimming the top will hide the shortage.

I’m still trying to figure out what to use to trim it. 6x6 corner trim will cover too much of the metal. I’m considering a custom bent 29 gauge 2x6 corner for the top, and possibly the proper J-trim for the bottom like a pole barn would have. Or just leave the bottom as-is, but the top definitely needs trim. I’ll have to figure out what to do around the door openings and the stairs as well. I’m open to suggestions on those.

For now, though, I’m just happy not having to look at the ugly pink foam anymore.

That looks cool! I’m surprised you didn’t like the look of the pink foam. Others must love it as they leave it exposed for a long time!
With the corregation to it, how much does the metal stand out from the surface?

Could you cap that wall top with 1" by X" so the cap extends an inch past the top of the metal ribs to cover those. Then maybe use a 3/4" quarter round under that overhang to finish/hide the top edge of the metal? Might make a 6 or 7 inch shelf all along that wall to hold the shop radio or whatever else.

Looks great! Like the blue.. What are your plans for that big empty wall? Cabinets or some shelves? I'd probably do as Alien5044 suggested and cap with a 1"X and rip a narrow piece for underneath.

I went to Lowes this morning after seeing your suggestions above to find something like what y’all described, and decided to quick look at their selection of corrugated steel and trim. Lo and behold, they had white J channel on clearance, and it just so happened to be REALLY close to the exact quantity I need, so I bought all of it.
I might still have to cap (or just paint white) the top to hide the wood, but I probably should have just done this J-channel from the start. I saw it at Home Depot for like $15/12’ last week and couldn’t quite do it because I need about 140 feet, plus I would have had to order the white color stuff. But after seeing the finished un-trimmed project I decided it might be a good option, plus this is what it’s made for.

Also I still have the back wall of the garage to do, and that wall doesn’t have a ledge so this should work well once I figure out how to attach it. Maybe construction adhesive? I don’t want to do nailers again.

I started in the corner to see how it would look, and it isn’t too bad. Unfortunately all the metal I did yesterday has to come off to do this, and it’s a butt pain to reinstall. The bottom and vertical pieces are stapled to the 2x2 anchored to the concrete, and the top piece is attached at the same time and with the same screws as the metal. I’ll have to get different shorter screws later to re-anchor the bottom of the metal. Menards shorting me that 1/2” is really not helping. Did I mention this is a butt pain?

Nice score! That’s going to look great!
And yeah… doing something twice always sucks… I’ve been there more times than I’d want to admit.🤪

But once it’s done it was always worth it!
(well, mostly always.. lol)

I kind of like the blank wall. Makes getting in and out of the truck a lot easier.

One of my next steps is going to be getting rid of all the crap along the back wall. Mostly my wife’s camping stuff.

I like it in the movies when the characters open up the garage and there’s nothing in there except a car. That’s really the look I’m going for in this garage (plus shoes, deep fryer, and little fridge). We have a pole barn and another 2 stall garage for storage.

Also, the question was asked regarding how far the wood, insulation, and metal stick out. Unfortunately we lost about 4-5” of garage width all told.

My attached garage is actually a twin of yours.. and I also have the big wall, tho I have a hook up there holding a hose and extension cord.
I do like how you’ve now covered the concrete.. looks real nice.. but I also would be concerned about the inches lost as I park my F250 on that side and it’s tight already.

Garages are never quite big enough, are they? I’m pretty happy with the depth of it, but I do wish it was wider. Losing those couple inches on the truck side sucks. Not a big deal on wife’s side due to the steps up to the house.

The other 2 stall garage is the same width, but it’s like 6 feet shallower. On that side is dad’s log splitter, wife’s pop up camper, my daily driver Mariner, scooter, small quad, lawn mower, grill, walk behind snowblowers, wall mounted central vac unit, etc. That one might get some overhead loft type storage at some point. Both garages have “room in attic” trusses, but there’s still no floor or lighting up there. The garages are separated by the wall because my intention is to heat the main garage at some point via natural gas heater up in the corner above the (future) work bench. One project at a time, right? They’re both insulated and stay pretty warm in winter from hot vehicles getting pulled in and radiating off their heat. Bummer that happens in the summer, too. And the doors face west. Unfortunately if I put a plow on the truck there might not be enough room for the work bench. The hot/cold water spigot is also on that back wall.

I have had the F250 in a 27' deep garage. Don't think it would have fit with a snow plow.

I can’t complain about adequate storage, but I sure could utilize it better! Lol. Luckily the attached 2 car only needs to house my truck and my wife’s Lincoln and a couple cabinets for small stuff..
My old 2500 crew fit easily, but the F250 crew just makes it, with just under afoot in front and rear. My XM antenna also just hits the rubber seal at the top of the door.. lol

It was unfinished when we bought the house, and when we added the great room above it the garage was insulated and finished.

Fold those mirrors in! I can’t even leave a trailer hitch in the receiver!

My F250 will not fit in my present shop. I had no intention of buying something 7'2" when I put the seven foot doors in. No room to change it either with 8' side walls.
Want to fix that some day.
Oh yeah.. I need to fold them in going in or out, that was the first time so I unfolded them once I was in to check my spacing. I actually have to turn around down by the shop and back up the drive to the house and wiggle it into the garage. Once I’m lined up I can shoot right in on the mark. Freaks my wife out how fast I do it! Lol.

for finishing touches on the ends, could you wrap it in a white corner piece or is the distance too great?
Sure gives one something to think about when buying a truck doesn't it.
Honestly I’d be ok if it didn’t fit in the garage. Considering in the 20+ years I’ve been driving, I’ve had my own dedicated garage space for 5 months. 😂.

The truck and capabilities are more important than having a dedicated garage space.

I’d prefer to back into the garage but there isn’t enough room between the truck and the wall on the far side to get out 😂

Freaks your wife out, be ready when you get a new one, those kind of moves will freak the truck out! According to my new truck I have to be one of the worse drivers on the planets. It was all the time dinging at me with a warning “front brake assist” or “rear brake assist”. Evidently I was coming in too hot to parking spots and the curb up front represented a collision. Driving too fast into the garage and the door walls were viewed as serious hazard.😂 All those features have now been turned off (thankfully I can turn them off) and I am back to terrorizing other vehicles that leave their adaptive cruise control on and continually drive slower and slower as they are on their phones not paying attention as the cars pile up in front of them.
Wow you guys - that’s some close fits! The down sides of driving some of the biggest vehicles on the road I guess.
Function is more important than fit! 😂

Can’t tow this with anything smaller.
