So update. I’ve asked them to take my tractor back and replace it with a new one. Since John Deere has halt production on a lot of the models, they are calling up 13 dealers to source a new x370 and will try to get me the new one in a week. They were saying it could be hard because no one is parting with inventory right now.

I also tried mowing with the old one and looks like they did resolve the rattling noise which was said to have been an incorrect install of the tension spring at the factory.

All the problems and their willingness to rob another LT to put parts on yours makes me wonder if yours wasn't sitting around getting parts cannibalized and replaced before you bought it.

Don't take this the wrong way, as I mentioned I had a similar experience with my Craftsman, but while it stinks for the person it is happening to and we all want nothing more than for you to get the tractor you want as soon as possible, stories like these make for great summer reading for the rest of us!:)

Hahaha all good! I was just saying to myself I’m going to miss the thread when it’s over. Lot of great people here.

Anyone want to place some bets on when these people will actually come through. They said a week, I’m going with Mid September or can’t get it at all.

Sounds like a bunch of knuckle heads there, but, I bet there are a couple there that are as eager to get this straight as you are.
For sure!

Their head tech is really knowledgeable, straight shooter but when I went back to the shop, it looks like they are understaffed/under-experienced and overwhelmed. He’s been great but has no control over getting a new tractor. That explains why he’s been trying his best to fix it vs swapping it out.

Wow, you are really patient. You missed a 2019 X370 with 28 hrs. at Roeder Outdoor Power. It was only $3650 plus shipping, but they still have an X590 with 17 hrs. 😁
There’s always options. Hope you get one soon.

same issue here... we are down 2 techs in my shop from this time last year... and down a setup guy as well.... the head tech sounds a lot like me...LOL but i dont work out in the eastern part of the state.... im more western...LOL i always try to do whatever i can for the customer.... fun fact, i just got a whole tensioner assembly warrantied out for a customer's x350 w/ 48a deck because it wasnt right, and threw his belt... i wonder if there was a run of bad tensioners that got stamped?

Mikey is in New York and that dealer is on the other side of USA.If he buys there, they may charge as much as $1,500 to ship it.

The tech had said they installed the tensioner spring in the wrong hole which caused the rattling. Had a whole shipment come in with the springs installed incorrectly.
I just hear everything made in a factory is not being inspected before it goes out. They need to make a checklist of things before they package it for delivery. They must have poor quality control. Do they ever test the machine before it leaves the factory? I guess not. Do they check the fluids? I guess not. Do they check the packaging? I guess not. I often wonder if they have random drug testing at these factories. Could that be the problem? From what I read on this forum its all the brands too.

With the virus - it's mostly absenteeism. The goal is to get units out the door. They're pulling different people from different lines just to get one or two lines running. Most likely, the operator hasn't been in the position before and did something wrong that wasn't caught in between the quality checks (most plants don't do 100% inspection).

I can promise you that Deere isn't the only one in this situation.

I know that. It's unfortunate.

this right here.... even our local walmart has suspended the tire shop stuff because too many people are calling off, so, they have grease monkeys stocking shelves now....LOL

Ok so small update and question. After a week, the dealer is still waiting to hear back from other dealers on getting a new machine swapped out. They said it can be hard to find and dealers might not want to give up any inventory. My fear is they sell the other tractor and I’m stuck waiting months for another one. (Ordered this one mid June, so this has been going on a while)

If I were to go back and (re)request a new deck, do you think that would be safe? My worry has always been the deck and that they were replacing parts on the thing and not the deck on a brand new machine.

At minimum I’d want a new deck and I’d put the clock on them. If, let’s say, you have ten days left on JDs 30 Day Promise, then I’d want a new deck before that expired. If a new deck wasn’t installed by then...then I’d exercise the 30 day promise and get my money back. That’s just me though..do you what works best you.
