Tacoma and land cruiser gets a Fram filter. Since the landcruiser has 48x,xxx km on it and the tacoma has 314,xxxkm i have no reason to not trust fram. The JDs get JD, Order the filters for the rest of the fleet from NAPA, except for the f250 which has a non-stock filter for more capacity (local auto shop brings them in for me)
Run Rotella oil in almost everything, 15w40 in the bigger liquid cooled tractors, 10w30 in the air-cooled engines and the land cruiser, 5w20 in the tacoma, 5w50 in the quad(as per polaris)
Get a discount on everything i get from NAPA through work. Helps that work has been one of NAPAs biggest local customers since Napa opened a store here.
 
A fellow local to me works for Kawasaki and gave me a case of Kaw filters (I assume made by Nippon Denso). I also assume Kawasaki wouldnt use junk since they do make a great engine. They seem like good filters (although I haven't torn one apart - but they are heavier than the ones Deere sells) and have been using them in all my Deere GT's.
This thread has reminded me to stop being lazy (i.e.Walmart) and get better than Fram filters for my Jeep. Can anyone link a cross reference for Wix filters for the common Deere tractors including the diesels...?

Punch in any manufacturer number (including the OEM) and it will give you the Wix equivalent.
 
It was 20 years ago when the WIX rep cut open those filters--I imagine there may be better Fram's available today ,but I'm sure they will cost double what their old school orange can ones cost...though they may be "fine" I'm still leery of their bad reputation,and will stick to the brands I mentioned earlier...

BTW,Champ is made by Lubrifiner,a major supplier of heavy duty fleet filters for big rigs and farm equipment..they have a high rating for quality despite being a lower cost filter..

Hastings is a good filter too,though you rarely see any around here--only one farm supply and tractor store sold them locally,and they finally decided to clean out old inventory when the store changed hands recently--many of the filters sat on shelves for decades,they didn't toss them though,instead they moved them "out back" and will sell them at 50% off..they are now selling mostly John Deere OEM filters for the equipment they sell..

The problem with Fram is it is a low-quality filter sold at the same price as some much higher quality competitors.

Sure, most Fram customers have probably never experienced an engine failure because of one of their filters, but why risk it when there are better products out there for the same price or less?

Koi/Fisher/Federated Auto parts (depending on your area)-stock all the Hastings filters now....It's all one company now.
 
None of those stores here (yet!)...

We have Autozone,Pep Boys,NAPA,Advanced Auto,Allied Auto Parts,that's about it..

There are a few O'Riley's in other towns not that far away,but not close enough to me to bother going too either..

Practically ALL the old time "jobber stores" are now closed up---very few independently owned stores exist in my area any more...once Amazon,Walmart,and places like RockAuto and Summit Racing started selling online to "everybody",most of them found it unprofitable to keep their doors open any more (many of the stores listed above use RockAuto and Summit as "warehouses" too..your simply getting charged more,for them to order parts YOU could order yourself!)..
 
Hi i am new here i am from the Netherland Europe.

And am looking if the agricultural in America uses bypass micro filters
I wonder if there are also people here who install bypass micro filters on their trators to avoid valve malfunctions and use the oil longer than prescribed by the manufacturer?

Here in Europe there are many problems with the solenoid valves due to the small particle in the oil that the standard filter does not filter out.
they install extra filters for this and this ensures that these problems no longer occur.
they also use the same oil for more than 3000 hours and it is even cleaner than new oil after laboratory tests.

Is there anyone who knows if this is used and what brand they use. here they use NTF filters also known as NTZ filters.

But I was curious if this is also used on tractors then the filter is slightly larger. AL-29A

Engine oil also becomes acidic over time from the exhaust gasses affecting the oil, as well as condensation inside the engine every time the engine is shut off and cools down, and the humidity in the air these days is very acidic in most industrialized parts of the world, which is why there is acid rain. So there are several reasons that engine oil should be changed at the regularly scheduled maintenance periods other than simple particulate contamination.

You are right only this filters is different from a standard filter that is pleated this is a cellulose paper material.
Corrosive acid is formed primarily from sulphur blow-by in the combustion process. When sulphur particles combine with moisture in the crankcase, acid is formed, which in turn reduces the TBN or the amount of alkaline base material in the oil. If one of the two products needed to form this acid (sulphur particles and moisture) is removed from the oil, excessive acid formation cannot take place. The NTF bypass filter maintains a high and acceptable TBN level by removing the moisture in the lube oil. depletion of additive package in the oil will decrease because there will be less moisture and dirt particle in the oil and so the additives will stay longer in the oil.
You can not use the oil forever so therefore always do laboratory tests for cleanliness and additives. This is always cheaper than changing oil and a normal tractor already has 20 gallons / 80 liters.

And not to forget that the engine has less wear because the oil is much cleaner, and will therefore have fewer problems and last longer.
