I cut down some chains I got from a GT series tractor when I had a LT1000.

 

Same problem here, but there are chains available, for the LT1000. I found ones to match my tires, at $105 plus shipping, since the tractor tires are a little odd sized. I'm planning on cutting down a pair of older car tire chains.

Check on ebay, under 'Craftsmantractor'. There were a couple there last night, but cofirm the sizing of them. A little big, you can make them fit. Too small, you can't stretch them.

 

You may also try Tractor Supply ours here in Tn has chains that fit. They had chains back when i had my lt1000. What size tires does yours have?

I went the Tractor supply way. I actually did not know one was in town here in Richmond.

Funny, I stopped by sear supply store this am and asked and he looked at me like I was crazy. I asked for the model number to be looked up to see what size they were and of course he had no clue.. Lord help em... lol

BTW posted on CL for weights as well and will pick em up this weekend, $10 but needs mounting bolt he said. So I'm getting there slowly.

No snow in the forecast but lot of rain, 2" they say Christmas day. The flower bed should be great this sping lol

Mounting bolts are the easiest part....3/8 theaded rod with stacked hex nuts on one end, lock and hex nut on the other. Install the bottom one first, I found that easiest. Make sure you have the proper air pressure in the tire before mounting the weights, though. The valve is hidden by the weight.

 

Google "tire chains" and you'll find what you want. I think I got mine from tirechains.com or something like that. All they need is the tire size, If I recall correctly, I paid around $70 including shipping for the tires on the GT.

Also check vulcantire.com for your chains....... just input your tire size. Reasonable shipping when you consider the weight....... gotta like USPS priority flat rate for chains.
