That time of year

It's that time of year in Southern Ohio. Removed the mower, changed the oil to 10W-30, put on the dozer blade and chains and leveled out a thousand feet of gravel driveway to get ready for snow. The preceeding took about an hour and a half-I'm not going to tell you how long it took the first time I removed the deck and put on the blade..... :) Those of you who are doing this for the first time, persevere, it'll go a lot easier next time.

Be well,

I'm in the same boat EV (including the So, Ohio and 1600 ft. of gravel driveway) with the exceptions of a snow thrower vs. blade, and I have a 49' JD "B" to level the gravel. I'd like to convert the thrower to my old GT6000 but don't have the time this year, maybe next.

If you ever decide to part with the "putt-putt" remember me. I spent most of my teen age years on one back in the '60's, I think it was a '50 or '51. However as technology and attachments changed Dad went with bigger (diesel) JD's now the smallest we have is a 55HP and the largest a 4WD 135 HP or so. The big tractors are a dream to handle, power everything, but they just aren't as much fun. I'm serious should you ever decide to let it go. It would be happy in the barn surrounded by it's grand and great grand children...... :)

Getting mine ready too. Whats a pain is I take off the dozer to put on the thrower and have to remove the side plate mounting brackets for the dozer and add the ones for the blower. It would have been very nice if Sears could have used the same side plates for both, could have been done with reasonable ease. I guess Ari-fab is actually to blame.

There is a thread on here somewhere from a guy who reversed the bolts on his brackets and uses wing nuts to hold them on. He says it takes about 10 minutes to change the brackets when necessary.

Took off the deck of my Husg. for the first time last night. Rally nice it only has clips on it no nuts or bolt. The people who had it before me must have never cleaned under the deck. I got about 2 gal. of krud ater 2 hrs. of banging and scraping. Just finished power washing it. Better half said I can go buy the plow blade I've been looking at. :woohoo1:

Our son and his son came over and took off the mower deck and put on the snowblower on my Husqvarna. The deck came off in less than 5 minutes. The snowblower took longer to put on due to one side plate being bent, and figuring out the belt / pulley routing. The directions aren't all that clear with the moving arms for the pulleys. Last year our son came back twice because the snowblower belt slipped off. Finally got it right;but now this's a long time later, so both of them checked and double checked. So c'mon, Ma Nature - gimme your best shot! :177:

Took me about 1.5 hours to take the deck off the GT-5000 and put the Agri-Fab blower on. The brackets were all there from last year, but I have not committed the process to memory yet so it took a bit longer. I even had to get the manual for the blower out!

Got the chains on too... only the weight tray is left, and I have a modification in mind for that. Will be doing a thread on that soon.
