I know the Lawn-Boys, and Toro Suzuki 2 cycles use NGK BPMR4A plugs, but has anyone used a NGK XR4? it is the same heat, projected tip, resistor but it is the V-Power. I was thinking about trying one out in a Toro CCR2000.

You must be referring to the E series Lawnboys. The recommended plug for the F, V and D series is the Champion CJ-14. I'm currently running an E3 plug in my R7070 and an Autolite Irridium in my C21ZPN just to try them out. All my other F's and my D have the CJ-14. My conclusion has been that these fancy plugs just seem to cost more. I've not noticed any improvement in starting, running or fuel economy. But......my mowers are well kept and in good running condition. Someone who neglects their equipment might see something different. The price to try these plugs won't put anybody in the poor house but I've not seen any advantage to them yet.

PS. I'm not accusing anyone here of neglecting their equipment. The guys on here are very much the exception to that rule.

hmmm, I have BPMR4A's in my F engine Lawnboys, and all the Duraforce's I had I ran those in..

Anyway, the V-Power costs the same as a regular BPMR4A, and I know the V-Power is a slightly better plug, I ran them in both Honda powered mowers I have, and my 4 cycle Toro/ Suzuki. they started slightly easier, and had just a slight bit more power.

I ordered 5 XR4's from Napa, I will throw one in the CCR, and if i like it, I may use those in the Lawnboy's and such from now on..

If you do some research you will find that the NGK is not the recommended OEM plug for the F series. If it's working for you though, and you like it. Have at it.

I guess I just got used to the DF's running them.. I know there was a BPMR4A in the V-series I had, and I think my D-600 has one..

I use NGK's in everything, except the VW and my Audi, they get Bosch, lol. may even switch to NGK's in them, though.

I've ran Bosch platinum plugs in every vehicle I've owned since the late 70's or early 80's. Never had a failure. I'll most likely never switch.

I am just thinking price wise, Bosch plugs aren't cheap. heck, the VR6 in the Jetta came with NGK's from the factory, but I couldn't those plug except from the dealer, they didn't have a standard NGK part number...

Well the XR4 in place of a BPMR4A in the Suzuki 2 cycle definitely made a difference.

I ran a brand new BPMR4A back to back with the XR4, the XR4 had slightly more power in the snow, and it actually smelled like it was running cleaner. definitely going to give these a try in some mowers come spring.

NGK plugs work pretty good, use them a lot,
i used an "easy start"from champion on my snapper mower, wasnt too impressed
have a nkg cs1 in the snowblower, works pretty good, had a cs5 "shorty" but that was borrowed from one of the lb's& was just a "tester"any way

The only difference I've noticed is that it costs twice as much. I'll try to get you the number but the mower is way in the back in the garage.

Just wanted to throw this out there. The V Power plug actually does burn cleaner, so much so that it does not smoke, and actually it barely even smells like a 2 stroke anymore. Yes, I am running 50:1 mix in it.

You're probably getting 2 more horsepower too. Billy Hayes is smiling down on us.:banghead3
