About 2 years ago, I purchase a used 2003 GT5000 from a guy on Craigslist. It had a 50" deck. I didn't have a problem with that until I discovered rear baggers were not available for the 50" deck. So then one day I saw a posting on Craigslist for a 54" deck. I jumped on the phone and called the guy. I went up to look at it. I bought the deck, and also took home the old skeleton frame of the DGT6000 it came off of. I'm glad I did, because I needed to swap out all the mounting brackets the old frame had. I took a few more pieces off of the old DGT6000 and discarded the rest, thinking I would not need anything else. Well........I was wrong. After the new 54" deck was mounted and I started using it, I noticed that every time I made a hard right turn while mowing, the steering draglink would rub against the deck belt and knock it off. I kinda slow, so it took me a while to figure out something was wrong. After replacing the belt 2 times, I decided to do some research. Turns out the GT's with the 54" deck have a different draglink than those of the 48" and 50" models. So, last week I ordered one and it came in today. I quickly installed it and took it for a test drive. What a difference! Problem solved and I'm back in business. This proves that I may not be the fastest, but I get there eventually.
