Hi there. I just inherited a '77 B-80. I have found what has turned out to be the model number (71-08K80), but can't find the serial number. Could use a little help because I don't know a darn thing about these Horses. Thanks much!

Welcome aboard Brian. You have a 1977 B-80 71-08k801. Not sure how important your serial number is. You can get a 24 pg operators manual for $2.00 and an 86 pg parts manual for $17.00 (?) plus download a free transmission manual at:
https://lookup3.toro.com/request/request.cfm
Put 71-08k801 as model number and "riding mower" as product type.

You can also download a service manual for your K-181 at: http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/classic_engn_families.jsp
Good luck......:goodl: .....

I've got a '75 model (B-80) in process of partial restore as we speak--I might be able to help with some questions...I've also ran across some stuff that I didn't know about, but I saw one up @ the show last week and now I understand how the grader blade is attached to the one I have....
Ask away--far more knowledgeable folks here than me, too...

Buzz, thank you for your help. After poking around a bit, seems you're right...the serial number might not be that important. I'll be downloading the manuals for sure.

Glenn, I don't have any particular questions right now, but if I do, I'll be sure to post.

I appreciate the support from both of you, thanks much! :thanku:

You might want to check with Toro to see if $17.00 is the right price for the parts manual. The 40 page one for the 1976 B-80 is only $2.00.

I am co-owner of several Wheel Horse manuals groups. We have a manual that covers the B and C series tractor for free download. It's not as detailed as a manual for an individual tractor would be, but might be a help. Go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wheelhorsetractormanuals3/

It's in the FILES section. The first file in each group is a list of manuals we have and which group they're in. Good luck.

You have to join so we can keep spammers out, but with 3 co-owners you get approved quickly. Just say Buzz sent me..........

There is a really good show coming up in two weeks. It's in Bangor PA near the Delaware Water Gap. It's called Jacktown. It has a lot of everything, garden tractors, big tractors, hit and miss, flea market, and the best homemade ice cream you ever tasted. Almost worth the drive for the ice cream alone. Check it out at www.jacktown.com
You can get a list of shows nationwide at www.FarmCollectorShowDirectory.com
You have to register to view the listings which some people are hesitant to do, but I have NEVER received any spam from them.

Millbrook is about dead center of Dutchess County. You probably know the Taconic Parkway...get off at Route 44 and go east: welcome to Millbrook. It's kind of a touristy town...lots of city folk come up on the weekends to check out the farms and the little town with it's expensive shops.

I just might get to the Jacktown show...it's only about 2.5 hours away...I might learn a thing or two.

Thanks for writing!

I'll be coming up from South Jersey on Friday, around a 3 or 3 1/2 hour drive. Makes for a long day but usually meet some old friends and make some new ones. If a buddy comes with me I'll bring the trailer with a couple of horses, if I come alone I'll just throw the Lawn Ranger in the back of the van like I did in the fall. If you decide to come we'll have to figure out how to meet up and say hello. Always like to put faces with names.......
