I was mowing leaves the other day when all of a sudden my tractor (Cub 126) started acting up. It seemed as if the choke was pulled out on it. So I stopped and was going to do a quick card adjustment on it. About time I got off it it died. I had my great uncle pull back to his basement. We tore into it to try to find the problem. Come to find out it wasn't the fuel but it had no spark. The plug has no spark. We checked the points but no spark. However I have fire coming from the ignition to the coil. So I have fire from the ignition to the coil, on the positive side, and no spark going from the coil to plug or on the negative side, going to the condenser or points. So could it be a bad coil, and if so, how would I check it?

Sounds like, there is a "grounding" issue. Using a DVM or VOM, measure the resistance between the engine block and the negative terminal on the battery. You should have Zero Ohms resistance. Next, make sure that the Condenser is properly mounted, tightly secured, and grounded also.
