I'm noticing that when I try to mow the grass on really hot days my 320 will stall out on me after cutting for a while....if i choke it, it'll keep it going for a little longer but will eventually totally stall. It won't start back up until the engine has cooled.
I unplugged both of the wires from the spark plugs and used a screwdriver to test for spark...i did see spark in both.
I've changed both spark plugs, new gas cap, cleaned air filter.
Oil/filter was changed this season and levels are still good.
Coolant levels are good.
I disconnected the hose coming from the fuel pump to the carb and turned the key...it did shoot gas out of the hose.
I took the bowl off the carb....there was hardly anything in the bottom of of it and the float seemed to move up/down freely.
I was running regular gas w/ ethanol....I just filled the tank this week with premium gas (with ethanol...hard to get this time of year around here) and also put some seafoam in. I was having troubles with the mower idling...before I used the seafoam it would not idle..it would just stall when you turn the throttle down low. Now after using the seafoam it will idle...slightly rough, but once it warms up it idles great (but when it gets too warm...the engine totally stalls)
My John Deere lawn tractor is the early 1990s 320 with a Kawasaki FD590V 18HP I beleive...liquid cooled V Twin
Anything else I can try before I load it up and take it to the JD dealer to have them look it over?
