the hydro transmission on my jd 317 wont sit still..its always either slow forward or slow reverse . anyone know whats wrong or how to fix it?

Tman: That is known as "hydro creep". As for fixing it some people change the fluid and filter and it goes away. Some have to take the fender deck off and adjust the linkage to get it to stop. Then there are a few that has done both and it still will creep a little. Good luck.............. My self I did both the fluid change and tweeked the linkage some but it didnt fix mine completely so I just learned to live with it......

alright thanks i might do that tomorrow is there a certan type of fluid that has to do in or just normal tranny fluid?..i know ill have to tweak the linkage cuz its all loose but ill definatley try the fluid/filter change

Your best bet is to use John Deere hyd. fluid. and there filter.. Its costs a little bit more but it is what your tractor is designed for.
