My tractor won't start. It has the abominable Husqvarna "Smart Switch". Went to start it yesterday
  1. Press the center button, the center button turns green
  2. Enter code.
  3. Center button turns green
  4. Press the center button, it turns blue indicating a successful code was entered then immediately:
  5. Battery and PTO lights start flashing. They flash for a minute or two and go out.
  6. Repeat, same behavior.
Notes:
  • I changed the "security" code just in case and have verified the correct code gets a blue button and the wrong gets red.
  • I had a problem before caused when I had replaced the battery and missed reconnecting a black wire from the battery. As a test, I unplugged each connector and tested with each disconnected.
  • I understand there is a six-page document for troubleshooting the Smart Switch but cannot find it on the Internet.
  • I would prefer to replace the switch with a key switch as long as it doesn't bypass safety systems.
  • If I can't, I don't want to buy a new switch until I can verify that it will in fact fix the issue by going through the diagnostics
  • The tractor has been sitting outside and hadn't been started for a couple of weeks. It has rained but not that much.
  • Ideas?

AS far as I know they can be replaced with a standard stupid switch for smart people rather than the smart switch for brain dead people .
To check I will need the full serial & model number from the ID tag under the seat so I can get a wiring diagram and check before giving out incorrect information .
You will need some basic wiring tools as well to do this job properly as chopping & splicing will end up causing even more problems .

Excellent! Here are the details:

Product: 960430177
Maintenance Level: 00
Serial: 050516A006331
Model: GT48XLSi
I've got the tools and skills. Any help with troubleshooting the issue? It may not be the switch itself. I want to make sure the rest of the wiring is working. I looked at bypassing the seat switch today and found several videos that talked about putting something like toothpicks in to separate a conductor on each of the four connectors. Mine doesn't seem to have those conductors.

Still looking for the Husquvarna Smart Switch troubleshooting guide. I read about it on another forum. It discussed a six-page guide available to dealers. I'm way out of warranty so want to diagnose this myself. Anyone know where I can get a copy?

OK, I have an update. I have a new problem but I think it's related. The tractor cuts out and stops randomly. Sometimes it seems to recover and continue running. When it does the smart switch starts flashing lights. Sometimes I can start it right up again and sometimes it behaves like it did in my original post.I think I have a safety switch that is intermittently getting in the wrong position (open or closed). One time when it stopped I could hear a relay on the engine clicking randomly. I have a video on my phone of it I'll try to post as a reply.
Does anyone have the SmartSwitch diagnostics document? I know the seat switch is under the seat. Where are the others? I have the schematic to show if the switches are open or closed but not where they are.

Ok, so idk if this will help any of you guys, but here goes. My smart switch would only flash the PTO and parking brake lights. It would let me start it. I unplugged every switch on the harness, sprayed it out with contact cleaner and blew them dry with the air compressor. Put it back together, fully charged battery, no issues. Stated right up. This is my second time having issues with the switch. There is nothing available for troubleshooting. This is how I figured it out. The first time it stopped working was after I washed it The second time it stopped working it was after I washed it in between those two times I was able to find an instance or another guy also had an issue after he washed it. I take a shot in the dark there might be water somewhere there shouldn't be. For me it seems to have solved the issue.
