How to remove the starter ??

I am trying to remove the starter form a CC 1541 with a Kohler Magnum 15 engine. The starter doesn't always engage right so I think it may need rebuilt. I have the shrouds off the engine for painting and thought this would be the time to fix the starter.

However, I can't get a wrench on the bottom nut of the starter. Do I need to lift then engine a bit to get at it? I tried loosening the motor bolts, but am having trouble getting on the back nuts which bolt the motor in. :crybaby:

Any recommendations about getting the starter out and having it rebuilt?? :thanku:

just in case i missed your first post, :Welcome1:

as to removing the starter usually there are a couple bolts at the top and that is it. can you post some pics so we can see what it looks like?

I'm not sure if I posted the photos correctly. However, here goes. It is the bottom nut on the starter I can't get a wrench on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :fing20:

I finally got it. Had to move some hydraulic hoses which were secured with nylon ties. Then was able to maneuver a socket on an extension through under the back shroud. :bannana: Thanks for letting me vent and not smash something.

How to remove the starter ??
