Hi I'm looking at buying a FEL for my Bolens GT 2000 and was wondering what some of the veteran Bolens guys think of the Gardenway 14066 front end loader. I would think parts would be almost non-existent for it...It is in really good shape and I only want it to work around the yard. Can you leave the mower deck on when this is attached? how difficult is it to put on and off? and what would be a good buy on it...or should i say what is it worth?:thanku:

I have seen loaders mounted on these in the past,if used reasonably and not beat you should be ok,sure does make yard work a lot easier, you will need to add a weight box on the rear of the tractor,I'm not sure if you can leave the mower deck on or not,I have an HT-20 large frame and I can have my loader on and off in an hr or so,as far as price you don't see many for the Durtrac's,on average a nice loader for any garden tractor does $1000.00-$1500.00

thanks for the reply Blackjackjakexxix..I found a pic online of this mounted to a GTX and the deck was still on. The gentleman selling it has a rear wheel weights and additional weight brackets and weights for it. He is asking 2000.00 which I thought is kind of high priced...not sure I can justify that much..ouch

Hi Dan thanks for the reply. The listing you posted includes the tractor and deck which is a good buy for 2500 . The listing I was looking at was just the loader for 2000. I worry if something breaks and need parts then what...The tractor you bought with 365 hours with deck and blower is a really good find. Mine has just over 900 hours and have had it since 1995. I have a 2 stage blower, weights, chains, and a cab for mine that work really nice. I also have the 33" tiller which does a nice job as well. Really like to have the loader but 2000...

Ya, 2k is high for just the loader. You've had your's for a long time, any problems?

Ya, I'm happy with mine so far, the low hours is nice, but it still has small problems just from the age. Blackjack just sent me a bushing (thanks Blackjack) to help tighten a loose idler and I need to make a few adjustments. What I would like to do, I think, is put a 3 pt on it, so I can pull a back blade I have while using the blower.
We'll see.

parts most likely to fail on a FEL:

- Hoses - Available at any local hydraulics shop, usually within an hour during business hours.

- Pump drive belt/coupling - Local hydraulics shop, auto parts store, industrial supply house, or on line.

Pump - Local hydraulics shop or on line.

The various pins may fall out and get lost, but similar replacements are available locally. The correct size of grade 5 bolt is acceptable.

In long term service, over 1500-2000 hours and depending on the weight of payload normally moved, there is always a risk of weld failure which will require a welding machine for repairs.

I average 100 hours of loader service per year. Really, they are pretty much bullet proof requiring only hoses and drive components to keep them functioning safely and effectively for normal usage, and not very many of either if the ones on the loader are of decent quality. I've replaced 3 hoses on the loader on my GT in 22 years, and the drive belt is original.

thanks for the reply Bob...I kinda was thinking along those lines about hose failure or some common hydraulic problems which could be fixed locally ( in fact my brother-in-law work at Complete Hydraulics inc in my town. So you have a GT 2000? with the same loader? How does the pump run off the front pto? because that was the thing i was worried about..being connected some how that is only common to this setup. I've never seen one installed in person.. What do you think about $2000 for the one I pictured?
Randy

And Dan yes I've had it for over twenty years...problems... electric clutch @ 830hrs...rebuilt starter same time...wouldn't always "catch" when starting.. One remote oil line leaking ...had new one made up and seat safety switch broke..easy fix. Other than that religious about oil changes, air filter maintenance and greasing everything. Never spent a night outdoors..(spoiled!!)...mows, blows and tills great!

No. I was writing generically. My GT loader is a Wright Way on a MF1655. Any specific tips regarding my pump's installation are somewhat less than useful for you. It's mounted high behind the seat and driven off the rear engine speed PTO shaft that also supplies power to the rear 2000 rpm PTO. It's ugly, but it works like a dream and is easy for any maintenance that is required.

Randy,

That's not bad for that much time and use. Mine is a 1999 and seems to be showing the clutch weakness already, it doesn't engage sometimes when hot. I'm going to check the gap but suspect a clutch is in my future. Other than that it's minor things.

As nice as a loader would be, it would be more of a toy for me than a needed tool.
