I saw an ad for a Kubota G5200 that the owner says needs a starter.

I know nothing about these traxtors.
Is the G5200 a manual trans?
Belt or shaft drive?
Diesel?

Thanks for any info

Pirate, just make sure that the front axle pivot is free and that the axle will pivot freely. I have had two Kubotas and both had had the zerk on the front axle pivot overlooked by the PO's and they were frozen up solid. As a result the G5200 broke its front axle beam and the G1800 cracked the frame just behind the cross-member. Never got the G5200 freed up and the G1800 is still very sticky. Apparently it is an oft overlooked grease fitting.

Yes. It's a Johnson Work Horse. I paid $250.00 for it and the pump. From the mounts I would guess that it was originally on a JD 318. Showed very little use and I doubt the guy I bought it from knew what he had. I didn't know what I had bought until I got it home and did some research. The combination has turned out to be the most used piece of eqipment on the our place. It took very little to adapt it to the Kubota. The pump is mounted underneath and is driven from the PTO. That way I can dissengage it for cold starting. I very seldom use the big loader tractor anymore.

These little kubota's are a geat piece of equipment. I just can't say enough good about them. As Daniel said, the steering if not worn out, leaves other mowers wanting. Even with 400 lbs. in my loader it is not that difficult at all to steer. You'll enjoy it.

You might check with the Kubota dealer about the screen. May not be that exspensive. There was one just sold on Ebay last week. I do not know how much it brought tho.

I have a G6200HST that I picked up at auction for $285.00 with ag tires and weights.
48" deck, snow blade minus the mounting frame, and spare rear rims with turf tires.
6200 has hydraulic lift, 5200 does not. I just rebuilt the deck gearbox at 1000 hrs.
Mine is missing the screen behind the radiator so I have to watch the temp gauge and hose out the fins when cutting dry and dusty stuff.
One other thing, it eats NAPA belts like candy, I put Kubota belts on mid summer last year and they still look new today.

I thought I was nuts paying $80 for two belts from the K dealer, then he showed me how to tell the year of manufacture on the old belt.........It was the original 25yr old belt.

Good thing too as their a PITA to install.:banghead3

I have a G4200 and I absolutely love it. Basically the same as the 5200, except I just have a 2-cylinder 12hp engine and 42" deck. Mine seems bullet-proof and I'm sure the G5200 is a superb unit. The foot pedal hydro works flawlessly and smooth. Steering works effortlessly. I can fast steer using the palm of my hand.

The G5200 is a 3 cyl. 14hp. diesel garden tractor. Usually running a 44" or 48" 3 blade deck. Both the tractor and the deck are shaft drive. You will have a foot pedal controled Hydro. I'm not sure but I think the G5200 was only offered as a Hydro. They are nice machines, built like tanks and are easy to maintain. Parts are easily obtained from Kubota or E-bay if your patient. I have two of the G4200's and I think they are a great machine.
What are they asking for it?
