I have that downloaded plus I bought an original manual. I have the number. But any where I give that part number it comes back blank. It doesn't surprise me a lot as it is 50 years old and they were only made for 3 years. Some shafts the gear part is bigger than the shaft and there must be a pilot hole to fit the end of the shaft. Those will not work on this tractor. This one the shaft OD is the same all the way down and the teeth are ground into the end of it. I have a shaft similar to that but the teeth don't match the steering gear. She steering gear comes to a point and the teeth on my shaft are round. I am thinking of grinding the teeth to fit the gear but finding the correct shaft would be much better.

The part number for the steering shaft is 1720 159 and the steering gear is 1719 944. For a Bolen's 770 cira late 60's. I have no idea of where to look. I tried E-Bay and got quick results but lost $20 right away in shipping costs to look at then return a new shaft. One of those "the following tractor's all use this shaft sort of thing. The tractor is seldom used but I have a big project coming up and I want the steering better than it is now.
