All good points @turboaudi80 and @mopar65pa. We went from being in the mid-sixties last week to this. Our weather has turned miserable again. Cold and windy as all get out, but still not enough snow to get the sleds out for some riding. I'm surprised that we didn't lose power last night it was so windy. I think I'm going to go drive the property to see if we lost any trees overnight. It doesn't look like I'll be getting much trail cutting done this week at all.

Dang it's 60 and sunny here.
I'm headed out to split the rest of the locus in a little.

Ya, I wish we had that here. After a long, useless Winter it felt good to be getting outside and getting something done, and now that's shut down for a bit again. I don't mind the cold too much, but I'm not a fan of the wind, especially when trying to drop trees. I foresee plenty of beer drinking coming up in the next few days!

I severely dislike when it gets warm, then tricks you, and now it's freezing again.

Ya, this one caught me off guard. With this terrible Winter we've had, I thought for sure Spring was making an early appearance. So this return to cold and snow really messed me up.

I was going to go and cut rounds of English walnut today since it above 40*, but my 20" saw won't stay running. The 16" started and runs fine. That doesn't help much for a 24" log.

You'd be fine if you hit it from both sides, wouldn't you?

Yeah, but I ran out of gas and had to run to town for more non-ethanol to mix and got frustrated with idiot drivers in only 8 miles of travel. So when the 20" wouldn't stay running when I got back I called it quits for the day.

I get it completely. Sometimes I "look for" reasons to not do something, or like you, if I get frustrated, I'm quick to say "blank-it"

In my case, I'd probably have given up and bought a bigger saw...

My wife says you are not to talk to me anymore. You give me bad ideas.

Mopar, I wish you were closer. I’d bring over some bigger saws and let you try em out. Once you have a taste for 70+cc’s you’ll be on the hunt for one.

I don't need any bigger saws. If I do I'll rent one. We rented a Stihl 70cc with a 36" bar 2 years ago when we fell a cherry and a maple that were 30"s across. ;)

That statement couldn't be more true. Years ago I said that I'd never have a need for anything larger than my old 260 Pro. Then I got the 261 (same cc's), but then I got the 462 and said that was all the saw I'd ever need (and it really IS), but I just wanted the 500, so I got it, and now that's my most used saw.

And @mopar65pa I didn't even know that you could rent a saw. Do they just have them at rental shops, or do you rent one from a saw dealer? Do you remember what they charged you for the day?

Even though you don't "need" a larger saw, don't you enjoy trying other equipment out? I do, so when buddies that cut happen to stop by, sometimes they'll bring over a new saw that they've got and I'll play with it for a few minute, or if they've never run the saws that I've got, I'll let them run them. I just enjoy trying other saws out.

I'm happy with my little Husky and my 20" Poulan. :)
