That would be a derivative of the F series, known as the 'V' series. Rated @ 4.5 and 4.75 hp.

I havent heard much good talk about V engines on the forum. How does the DF compare to the F engine? My 8461 had tons of power.

 

I use a 22260(commercial df push) on about 6 lawns a week. Once it doesnt surge it cuts great. I like them alot

 

Say i find one that surges..is that a concern?

I have both a duraforce (6.5 horse) and a Lawnboy V series (4.5 horses) and If i were to bet on which one were to overpower the other, I'd put my money on my V. Not sure how, but my V seems to have more power, and I can't kill it, I've tried lol.

i was told about the vibrations when i got mine. couple of members on here told me to help with the vibrations, i dont even notice a vibration.

 

My duraforce is a strong running fuel sucking hog. I've run several V's and none came close

 

The DF is a bit unique to the Lawn-Boy engine design in that it features a third boost port in the rear of the cylinder opposite of the exhaust port and a tuned exhaust to help with generating that extra power on the low end. It also uses ball bearings on the crank big ends that are much larger than the F series's needle bearings. I do wish that they would of used a steel conecting rod on that engine but I have not had any problems so far with them. My biggest wish is for an adjustable carb on them. If I had the right machinery I could make an adjustable carb body that would make the DF the best LB engine ever made IMHO. It's a shame to see how the gov. has shackeled this motor design with a fixed jett carb.
