This is a variation on @Joelk s bent nail mod. I did this on my 3205 awhile back and I tracked it at 9mph fwd and estimated 7mph in reverse.

My 3225 is really slow in reverse. Like 1/2mph crawl slow. I need to replace the real axle seals but am not ready to do that but wanted to speed it up without pulling the running board off.

I rolled under this and did this in less than 30minutes today.

Here's the target. Left side(fuel tank fill side) center of GT, black plate with hairpin half out.

This hole needs to be drilled to 1/2" for the 1/2" od X 3/8" ID BFB (bronze flange bushing) I used a carbide burr in my angle drill to slowly ream it to size

Here it is with the bushing in it which takes the slop out of the fwd/reverse pedals.

Ludicrous speed in fwd, tripled in reverse, ripping gravel, and popping wheelies. I can adjust the pedal linkage to give me more reverse speed and less fwd speed which I will do. I dont need 9mph forward speed on this thing.

Thanks Bill. The hole only needs about 1/16" reaming. That drill is a Sioux 1800RPM with an adjustable exhaust direction. I had the exhaust blowing away from me and as the chips fell they went out from under the tractor. Anything else and you'd need a face shield or sandblast hood.

And 30 years ago that would have had a replaceable bushing installed when it was manufactured.
Today, manufacture it as cheaply as possible, when the bracket wears out and it gets slow, we will be selling another new machine. Good for the factory, bad for the consumer.
Now Steve had to go and blow it for Cub since the machines will last longer, Cub will probably go out of business from the decrease in new unit sales.

I have an old Craftsman that was losing speed range as the linkage parts wore. The engineers that designed the linkages did not make any allowance for wear and in fact, the range of speed was limited by the linkages, not at the hydro. I modified (increased) the range of travel on the linkages to get the full possible speed range the hydro was designed for.

I don't get ludicrous speed but I do get scary fast.

I have to use a disclaimer like that often.

I am a professional, you should not attempt to do what you see me doing. Bodily harm, dismemberment or even death may be the result if you attempt to do things I do. The weak at heart should not even attempt to watch me do what I am doing, I accept no responsibility for heart attacks, strokes or nervous breakdowns from watching me. I am a professional and I am having fun doing what i am doing.

Lol. First wheelie I popped on the 3205 was when it had no body and no seat on it. I was sitting on a board bolted across the framerails and wearing shorts and flip flops with my feet on the running board channel. Hydro fan spinning inches from my....uhh-huh-huh-huh.
