4 Cycle Trimmer doesn't start

I picked up a 4 Cycle Trimmer trimmer, added new oil, replaced the broken prime bulb, and cleaned the carburetor.

When I pull the string it's leaking oil out the side from the air cleaner. It doesn't start.

What should I check next? Could the diaphragms be the problem?

Update - the spark plug has a spark. It wasn't plugged in all the way. After I plugged it in tightly, the engine started but died right away. I think I am almost there. Just need a few pointers. May be there's not enough fuel in the engine.? I removed the returned fuel line and I see fuel come out of it when I pressed the primer.

Stiff diaphragms won't move fuel. Need the trimmer model #. If it's MTD made, may be like 41AD254X966. Search web for model & get carb part #. Common MTD one is 753-06083. I rarely see a rebuild kit for these barrel carbs. AM carb is ~ $12. You can get an OEM carb for $50.

Empty fuel tank won't break a tiny 4 cycle. Is oil at proper level? Rough compression test - pull the plug, put thumb over plug hole, pull rope...does pressure try to push thumb off?

I got the engine to start now. I feel pressure when I put my thumb over the plug hole and pull the rope. I retested the spark plug and realized that it was not sparking all the time. I cleaned the contact to make sure it was good and sprayed some gas through the spark plug hole and the engine started. I kept it running for a few minutes and ramped it up. I assumed using fuel from the fuel tank at that time.
