Hello MTF members;
I found this Dunlap Rotary at a yard sale a few days ago and I figured it needed a new home. So, although I've worked extensivly on cars and aircraft (AMT by trade with Delta) I know very little about antique lawn equipment.
My goal is to do a restoration on the piece and get it looking as close to new as possible. The elderly gentleman I bought it from remembers buying it in the "Early 50's or maybe late 40's" and at some point he replaced the engine with another Power Products 2 Stroke. Keen eyes will notice the home made mounting blocks for the replacement engine.
He thinks he still has the original engine, but will need to look for it (not holding my breath...)
It seems to have compression, but I'll need to go through the tank and the carb and clean/reset the points.
I don't think those are original wheels, but I'm not sure...
If anyone can add any info it would be greatly appreciated. You'll forgive the photo quality. The camera on my phone has stopped focusing.
I Know they were built by RPM for Sears, but beyond that, I don't know much. There's not a whole lot on them in the web...
Looking forward to this project and probably will do another after this one...
