Has anyone tried the 54c mmm with the spacers / I saw a thred somewhere that said with the spacers the tire would hit the rear guide wheel of the mower. I figured I would deal with it when I diden't need the chains anymore. GREAT price Rodney, maybe the shipping to Or. is why mine were so expensive? Oh wait I had to pay shipping also Oh well, again great job on the picks. B.S.

Bob,

If you return to the original post in this thread -- by ya-ya -- you will notice what you bring up regarding the 54 mower deck is mentioned there in that pic of the documentation. Wheel Spacer kit for X7XX 4WS (four wheel steer) states that the 54" deck cannot be used (or the kit needs to be removed) on these mowers. Great catch!

Still, my question is does this spacer kit work on the 2305 with the 54C Mower deck?

Thanks so much for the info!

Joe

Kbeitz, man, was that caused by spacers?

I'm thinking on putting chains on my 2305, can you get wheel spacers for front and rear tires. Will the spacers put the tires out further than the 47'' blower.
I use the spacers front and rear with the 46" snowthrower with no problems. :)

Nope, that was caused by dual rear tires. And, if you go back and look at some of Kbeitz's posts, you'll find he uses his tractors a little more aggressively than most . . . :sidelaugh

jgy I think that was deers position about the mower but they also did not list the spacers for the 2305. I was wondering if any real world people tried the spacers with the 54c deck. If it is only the gauge wheel hitting I could live without it rather than take off the spacers. I will try once the mowing season arrives. and I have to take off my skid plate. will let you know if no one tries before then B.S. (bob sherwood)

Thanks Bob. It seems that all here are using the spacers with the 62 decks or in ya-ya's case, not at all. I can't imagine clearance issues, but look forward to your comments when mowing season arrives -- and soon I hope! :)

BS, did you try the spacers with a 54C deck and how did it work out? slkpk

Has anyone tried the rear wheel spacers (2 inch thick, each) from Bro-Tek on the JD 2305? These would give you an additional 2" width in tractor stance.

Dale,

There has to be some point where the spacers put too much stress on the axles. I'm not sure anyone knows what that point is. Before I put the spacers on my 2210, I had a long discussion with my dealer about it. He already knew my usage, but we discussed the pluses and minuses and decided 1" on each side wasn't going to hurt anything. 2" may be okay, but who knows. I remember a post of kbeitz's here where he put dually wheels on the rear of his BX and broke the axle. :)

Go to Ebay and you can buy 2 sets ,front and rear for what JD dealer wants for 1 set .

Is there any advantage to adding spacers to the front? I'm not home to verify this, but doesn't the front axle pivot in the center.... in essence, making the tractor a tricycle? If this is true, then adding spacers to the front would only add more stress on the axle.

Phoenix,

This is my theory, and that is all it is, but increasing the track in the front spreads the load over a wider footprint. Think about a tractor mowing around a circular mulch bed on a slope. You turn the wheel hard to the left and the tractor goes around the top where it is flat and then transitions to the slope where the downhill (outside) tire is taking more of the load due to gravity etc. At this point, it seems to me the wider track is helping with stability. Anyway, that's my theory, and I like the performance of widening the stance, both front and rear. :)
