Hi guys, I have never had the chance to come into your area as we never had a Cub. My father and I fix up tractors and sell them when they are fixed. We keep some too! We got this one in trade on Friday. PO Seemed to have been trying to fix a no start, new solenoid and swapped starter. They installed a starter with a large gear that couldn't pass by flywheel!! :sidelaugh
Dad swapped starter for spare we had before I got home from work. After a little it fired up and everything seems to work. We will go through it and see what issues are found. Dad had hood and side panels off when I got home.
Any issues I should know about on this series? Seems well built MTD machine.

Worked on it today. Swapped the carb out for one in stock and swapped muffler as it leaks. Run good now and quieter. Looked over the machine and it seems sound, good belts. Needed grease and lube badly. We installed the tins for safe keeping and will work on it in the future.

Hi B440, not sure about the deck size or timed? We haven't removed it yet. I think it is a 42" by size of it. About the size of our Murray 42" deck.

Dad took off the deck. Blades NEVER changed or sharpened. He cleaned it some and looks good. Needs repaint due to rust. He fixed parking brake lever, needed lube. It run and drives nice so far.

Could not find the size of the PTO deck belt online? We will take old belt with us tomorrow. We bought some Cub Cadet yellow to repaint the bad spots. We need to wash it tomorrow, maybe with new pressure washer we eyed at Lowes today.

We had one Snapper, wasn't too good. PO really killed her. Wound up selling it to a guy unfinished. The engine was a Kohler that must have been used and abused, smoked badly. We kinda do anything we get our hands on really!! Might be getting another JD STX Today. Saw a Snapper with opposed horizontal Briggs one it today. Kinda far for us.

Yepper-the Cub looks good so far!

BW--tell us the story and show pictures of that 'lift' you have the tractor sitting on--Is that your Dad standing there beside it?

WE need details!!

Hi Glen! Yea, forgot you guys don't know us! Yup that's my dad. We started this habit after our Husky died suddenly. Was a healing way to spend time. The hobby grew to a nice little way to buy things we both wanted. I was a line tech at a Chevy dealer long time ago. We wanted a auto lift. I found this Bend-Pak MD-70? Lift for $1900 online with free shipping. It is a 6000# mid raise portable. It turned out it acts like a roll on lift for tractors too! Sure saves our backs!!

Thanks GM2SLO! Here are the almost finished pictures! We finished painting the spots and I buffed out the rest of paint. Waxed it good and installed deck. Adjusted side covers for fitment. She fired up after some looking for a electrical issue? Weird it acted like no battery, fuse was loose or something? I buffed the headlight lenses as they seem permatex'ed in?

Bumper needs another coat of paint, figured it is easy to remove to finish on warmer day. Ran out of daylight!
