I'd rather have the 425, it will last about 2500-3000 while the x465 will last 2000 just like any other air cooled motor. Unless the x465 is cheaper, where you can put a liquid cooled motor in it when the current one goes bad, get the 425

Hard to say. The 425 is liquid cooled which is better than the air-cooled 465, but the 465 doesn't have the plastic cam gear issue.

The main reason I'm considering the x465 is so my attachments will be a direct fit between both machines. Currently to put the blower or Burford bucket on the 425, the hoses need to have the 90 degree fittings removed. There is nothing wrong with the 425, just me trying to justify another unnecessary purchase.

2200ish on my 425 and over 1200 on the x465 I am considering to replace my 425.
Since you mention the hours I would lean towards the X because the X has 2 or 3x the hours left that the 425 does

Do you notice a difference with the hydraulics on the Buford between your X machine and 425? I have heard response time is a little quicker on the X series. I would sell the 425 and get a second X tractor.

The liquid cooled 425 is good for 5,000+ hours while the air cooled is good for 2,000 hours. I wouldn't be surprised to see a liquid cooled Kawasaki last up to 10,000 hours if taken care of. 2200 hours on a 425 is nothing on the motor itself.

Liquid cooled motors out last air cooled motors 3 to 1.

I have not used the Loader on the 425 because of the hose differences. I have used the same 54 front blade on both and didn't notice a difference. I will eventually get a 2nd x, just waiting for the right deal to present itself, and I'm not yet sure if an air cooled machine is right for me.

Thanks, this is the kind of information I was looking for.

Personally, I would shy away from air cooled motors after owning a liquid cooled. I am sure the right deal will come along for another X series machine, just not sure if this would be the right one.

Almost Had a air cooled X465 In 2003 Only reason I didn't go with it was 45loader was Not Compatible . Though I could use My 40 Loader from my 425 On the X465. I really Liked the 45 loader Sub Frame Better. I would Love to have a X465 as a second Machine. But My 2nd Machine this size is a Air cooled shaft driven 1999 White GT2055 Many of the Machines In My collection are 40 years old or older air cooled Machines and still used as worker Tractors. So I would Not Be worried about a air cooled X series as a second Machine. I personally would take a X465 over a 425 anyday:thThumbsU

It's probably a matter of personal preference. I like diesels but have a few air cooled gas tractors too. I love the simplicity of an air cooled engine. I don't put enough hours on them either to worry about them wearing out. I would take the X465 if it were me.

a few comments about the " plastic cam gear " do you even know if it has the plastic gear in the 425 ? what year is it ? has it already been updated ? if not its really not that big of an issue to me , i have no expierience with the 465 but i have had a 425 and 2 445's and loved them

If you wait and search there are some very good deals out there.
This one seems too good to be true - and doesn't appear to be a scam. If I had the equipment to go pick it up, it would already be in my driveway. Just talked to seller this morning - still for sale.

But I think you will find that there are X475's and perhaps even X485's in the same price range as the X465. If there is only a $500 difference which I have seen with low hours, then IMO the X475 or X485 are the best deals.

It was either on this site or another, but I heard a 7,000 hour 425 had came into a dealer, it was still running great. So definitely 5,000+ hours.
